Randy Couture is not fighting Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filopovic at UFC 99 in Germany, Fighters Only can confirm.

Rumours emerged today that the former heavyweight champion would be fighting the Croatian kick boxer on the UFC’s first venture into continental Europe.

But Fighters Only’s source says that Couture is not interested in fighting Filopovic on the June card, and has declined to appear on the June card at all.

The same source said that BJ Penn will headline UFC 99 in a lightweight title defence against Kenny Florian.

Didn't think the Couture-CC rumors were true. Guess no Nogueira either.

BJ will KO Kenny,Kenny is good and has improved a ton but this is going to be bad timing to fight BJ. BJ by KO in the 2nd or 3rd.

even though Cro Cop isn't fighting Couture i'm pretty sure he's still going to be on the card. even if he isn't, this card is already incredible with Wanderlei Vs. Franklin and BJ Vs. Florian.

Good...I have 0 interest in watching Couture put a wrestling clinic on CC.

Penn vs Florian and Wanderlei vs Franklin on the other hand are a great warmup for UFC 100. It's kind of hard to believe the UFC is going to put on this caliber of an event on an overseas show. I mean it's been a long time since the UK got a card with this kind of main event and co-main event...so I'm going to assume that Penn vs Florian will more likely be at UFC 100 and Franklin Wanderlei will headline 99.

When it comes to UFC events in Europe, i haven't seen Fighters Only get it wrong yet, so i doubt he will appear if FO's source says otherwise.

Yeah, there is no way Randy is going to be on the card-he's shooting that stupid action movie for most of May.

I like Florian/Penn for a headliner along with the possibility of Franklin/Wandy,Nog and Uno/Fisher.Should end up being a decent card.

WB.

Nog vs. Cro Cop II? If it doesn't happen soon it might as well never happen.

What does the UK have to do with it? 99 isn't in the UK, it's in Germany. And having a huge card with co main events is a great idea for their first foray into mainland Europe.

They're both overseas, and typically you expect similar cards on all overseas matchups whether it be in Ireland, the UK, or Germany...because they're played on tape delay here in the US and you're not going to generate big PPV numbers.

Ah. I see what you're saying now. I think the effort to create a strong card must be more based on garnering stronger interest overseas by giving them the stars they may know already. Couture being fluent in German was one of the reasons it was reported the UFC had such high interest in him fighting there. And with Croatia not too far from Germany it's understandable why they'd want CC on the card. Penn and Wandy have fought all over the world as well. Nor sure how popular Florian is overseas.

I hope florian destroys Penn, then we could see Kenny/Sherk rematch or possible a diego/florian rematch

Also Florian and Penn I can already see some trash talking brewing!!
