I really hope this is true, but the fact that everyone seems to save their statements for an exclusive on MMABay makes me want to wait for another source.

“You guys are the first to know, UFC 97 will go ahead on April 18th in Montreal as planned with no changes to the rules. Thats 100%”

Thank you. I am surprised you haven't banned this guy. The only thing he comes to the playground for is to advertise his site. He has never discussed anything on the forums or participated in the fantasy game.

Foot stomps are banned? What the hell for? They are pretty worthless really, and hardly the most dangerous thing that happens in the octagon.

Glad to hear UFC 97 will still be in Montreal. Fun town.

He's being watched closely though.

Back on topic, namely the foot stomps, the best reason why is the Wes Sims-Frank Mir fight from years back (I think it was UFC 43, it was one of the Liddell-Couture events). Stomp hard enough on the right spots and you could kill someone.

Pretty sure by footstomps they mean stomping on the foot specifically. I think I remember it being one of the rule changes made along with no smothering and the re-defining of "back of the head" a few months back. The reason I heard is just that the structure of the foot is very intricate and foot injuries can be career-ending.
