You’ll remember a few weeks back, Five Ounces of Pain had an interview with Fedor manager Vadim Finkelstein where Vadim claimed there were no crazy demands for Russian events or Russian fighters bundled into a Fedor contract. Now here’s Dana directly contradicting him:

“When I first met with these guys, I was with them in the U.K.,” said White. “They said to me, ‘Here’s what we want to do. My brother is the biggest rock concert promoter over there so here’s what we want. We want you to build an arena in Russia.’ I said, ‘Time out. I’m not looking to build arenas.’”

I always had Dana's side on this issue, and this just shows why.

If that's true it's a pretty crazy demand. "build us an arena so we can promote rock concerts"? WTF? A fighter is paid to fight, a promoter promotes, I don't see why they would even consider asking for something like that. Can't blame him for not signing Fedor if this is true.

Hopefully now that he's come out with these comments there will be some kind of progress in the negotiations. Whenever something like this comes out people start putting pressure on the parties involved to get it resolved. If Affliction folds hopefully they'll realize no one is going to build them anything and the UFC is the best choice for him.

I don't believe a single word that comes out of Dana White's mouth.

Fedor deserves his own arena! Lol no, I won't back that up, pretty wild demand if true, but both sides are more then likey exagerating one and others claims.

I have serious doubts that is what Fedor asked for! But I can imagine that is what his manager asked for.

Why not??

- "PRIDE is not going to be dismantled, we are going to keep it running under Zuffa Worldwide"

- "Wanderlei just got knocked into next week by Cro Cop, why would we want him?"

- "Fedor is probably a Top 5 HW at best"

- "Tito will never again fight for the UFC as long as I'm president" (Before resigning him and making him a TUF 3 coach)

That said, I would like to see them ALL sit down though. Fedor does put to much trust in his management, IMO. Lorezno, Fedor, Dana and Finklestein should all sit down like professionals and go through all the details.

The thing is there is not much incentive for him to join the UFC right now. There are only 2-3 fights that are even worth it for him. (Mir,Randy and Brock. The last just to prove a point)

Maybe if/after he beats Barnett.

Why would you link the fightlinker version of this? This is all quoted directly from CBS Sports, and then fightlinker just just adds some spin at the end..

Both sides are pointing fingers at each other. Here's an idea. Both sides are to blame. Not just one. If Fedor wanted to be in the UFC he would be there and if Dana wanted Fedor in the UFC he'd be there. End of story.

All things being equal, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I dont doubt this converation took place. I do doubt Fedor was aware of it.

Just offer Fedor a contact worth the money he wants and remove the chompionship / loss clause.

If he loses, you can't drop him at your discresion (Werdum for example)

And if he remains undefeated, he can than renegotiate a new contract for more money (is this SO bad considering it would only happen if he stays undefeated!).

I think that would do it. But not untill the Barnett fight, after there aren't many fights out there for him (in terms of top-ranked HW's)

Also, at this point in time...Fedor IS the competition. Without him, affliction-m1 would be nothing. Signing 1 fighter would truely remove any competition in the USA.

This sounds bogus. Either this just didn't come from Dana or he's spewing some BS. I could be wrong of course, but it just sounds farfetched.

I could always see both sides to this issue since I know Dana is capable of being a true hard ass as well. However, if this is the kind of stuff being tossed around in negotiations then I think Fedor's management team needs to wake up. This is about the fight game and what's best for both the UFC and Fedor....not freakin rock concerts and Russian arenas!!!!!!!!!
