John Hackleman is a ******* RETARD. Bj by omoplata? WTF?
He must have felt like god because he picked Mir to win with a left hook right straight.

I can't. But I also can't name another guy in the UFC like BJ Penn. He's one of a kind. If anyone could pull it off it's BJ, so don't doubt him.
P.S. Mir didn't win with a LH, RS... He won with ground and pound. Even if you're talking about the shot that put Nog down, it was a left hook, left hook.

I've seen the omoplata once... I think.
Not in the UFC but Diaz Vs. Gomi in Pride Diaz locked it in.
Still one of the best fights I have ever seen.

That does sound crazy. Though he did pick Fedor to beat AA via a right hook so maybe.................
NAH! I woud crap myself if that happen.

As people have already mentioned- Hack has gotten a couple fights right. Most notably and recently he did say Fedor by overhand right (which is also basically a right hook if you're a right handed fighter)
Gleison Tibau almost had Joe Stevenson finished with an Omoplata recently, and it should be noted that whether or not the Omoplata is used to finish it is still a devastatingly effective submission move/sweep. I said it a year ago that we would start seeing the omoplata more in MMA, and I honestly feel like we have. Look for it to be used even more in the future. I call an omoplata an anti-wrestler. Wrestlers can push their hips down on a BJJ guy's hips all day long, but if they let up for a second and that leg gets up into the arm then the game can change immediately.
As for a recent SUBMISSION via omoplata you can call out Dustin Hazelett over Tamdan McCrory. Even though it "technically" wasn't an Omoplata, it was an Omoplata used to set up an arm bar, and essentially they are the same thing except the foot tucks under the arm pit and the applyer of the submission doesn't posture up. Still, it starts the exact same way and finishes with only a slight variation.

You do realize Jon Hackleman called both the Rampage v. Wandy & Fedor v. Arlovski 100% correct, even called what punch (in each case) would be the finishing blow.

Ok so? That was a pretty easy prediction and I would have put money on a Fedor knock out with a right hand.

obviousely no one on this forum knows much about BJJ. for one the omaplata is a lock that attacks the shoulder and is far different and much harder to finish than the straight armbar that dustin finished mcrory with ( which was very slick and dustin is very smart and put some quick thinking to play in order to pull that off). second of all diaz finished gomi with a "GOGOPLATA" which is in fact a choke in which you put your foot underneath the persons throat and pull down while reaching around the head and grabbing the tip of your foot to lock it in. BIG DIFFERENCE PEOPLE. A gogo in itself is extremely hard to pull off in mma but at the same time its no where near as hard as it would be to pull off an omaplata. If you guys would like to see proper instruction on these I recommend making a visit to www.submissions101.com those guys are awesom

That's a GOGOplata, not an omoplata. Gogoplata is a choke using your shin across the opponent's throat, an omoplata is a shoulder lock. It's like a triangle except instead of wrapping it around their head you do it on their shoulder.
Different things. Omoplata finishes are rare because an omoplata is more often used to set up a sweep or transition into another sub... It's pretty damn hard to finish someone with one, especially a high calibre fighter. I've only seen 2 or 3 in any organization. I think Alberto Crane has one in a smaller league.
edit - heh, damn you beat me to it.

That was a gogoplata, and Diaz isn't the only one to ever finish a fight with one.

here's a thread I made a while back about omoplatas, there's some GIFs in there so you can actually see what it looks like compared to a gogo.
omoplata finishes thread
hope you find it helpful.
