The Fertitta brothers had a simple plan for Manny Gamburyan: beat Rob Emerson and start fresh as a WEC featherweight.

It was a chance for the Armenian to be a big fish in a little pond. Gamburyan had been plying his trade as a lightweight for years – fighting for free, he says, for his first eight fights – but since his entrance into the UFC at the conclusion of “The Ultimate Fighter” season five, he had been acutely aware of his frame.

“I’m the smallest guy in the UFC, and Brock Lesnar’s the biggest guy in the world,” he told MMAWeekly.com.

And it never suited Gamburyan to admit he was undersized in a field of taller fighters who cut as much as 20 pounds to meet him.

“In myself, I can see myself being on top of him in a fight,” Gamburyan said of the current heavyweight champ.

Before he was ever nicknamed “The Anvil,” Gamburyan was “The Pitbull.” Not the biggest dog, but the one who wouldn’t let you go if he sunk his teeth in.

“Why am I saying that?” he continues. “I fought Sean Sherk three rounds when I was eighteen years old.”..................linkage

Im tempted to pick manny to win.

I kinda hope manny moves to 145, he will be a wrecking machine there.

That's not a bang...that's the sound of his own arm snapping.

Pick him...Saturday will be a big night for the Armenian cousins. Tavares IMO is extremely overrated. Ever since he came in, I don't think he's ever lived up to the hype.

Manny got caught in his fight with Emerson, but I don't think that will end up happening again. He will be able to take Tavares down at will and pound him out, maybe even submit him, his ground game is very underrated.

changed it, I think manny can bully tavares. Thiago is only 2 inches taller. Manny can prolly take down thiago and pound out a decision.

Tyson Griffin couldn't hold Tavarez, down, what are the chances Manny can?

but still if he gets the takedown he still is scoring points.

actually getting up from the takedown is worth just as many points as getting the takedown.

The damage done in between is where Manny needs to score points to win the Match-up.
