Middleweights Jason MacDonald and Nate Quarry will attempt to shrug off recent setbacks when they face each other at UFC 97 in Montreal, Canada on Apr. 18.

Sources close to both fighters indicated that bout agreements were signed and the fight was a go. At the time of this writing, it is unknown whether the bout will grace the main card of the event.

should be an awesome fight!......both like to bring it.....striking i give to quarry, jason might have a slight technical edge, but quarry more than makes up for it with the power....ground game goes to jason, but nate has good enough takedown defense to shake off jason weak takedowns......i see quarry either wining by decision or ko......if jason was to win i see it by him just pushing the pace and pressure against quarry, avoiding his bombs and constantly going for the takedowns and by doing eventually wearing quarry down in the late 2nd rd or 3rd rd for a submission win...but i doubt that will happen

great match-up. i'm going with MacDonald Round 1 Sub in this one. Quarry definitely has the power to send MacDonald to the canvas though.

This is a great addition to the card in my opinion. I think Quarry has the upper hand here though. I think he is going to be the dominate fighter on his feet and if it stays there MacDonald will get finished pretty quickly. If it goes to the ground MacDonald will have the advantage but Quarry will be able to defend and get back to his feet in my opinion. Can't wait until MONTREAL!

The UFC must have signed MacDonald to a lifetime contract or something.
Win or lose though you can count on his fights to be exciting.
If it goes to the ground Jason wins by sub.
If they stand and trade Nate should knock him out or TKO him.
This could be an exciting fight.

Quarry striking is overrated as is his game all together. Macdonald wins this with a sub A-la Maia

MacDonald alternates wins and losses thats how he's maintained a spot in the UFC.

Unfortunately for Quarry hes coming off a loss to Gouveia so if the pattern continues Nate will be tapping.

J-Mac won't be interested in standing and trading too much. He'll clinch and wrestle Quarry to the ground and either get him with a RNC or win a UD.

good match making here, the difference will be quarry's wrestling, if he can keep the fight on the feet he wins, he does have tough takedown defense but i still think macdonald gets the fight to the ground and wins on points. It's a very good matchup and a fight that I want to see but honestly i think it could turn out to be unexciting.

My thoughts exactly.....Quarry does have power, but Macdonald has shown he knows how to take a beating.....I see Macdonald rd 2 sub...

I think MacDonald ends this fight like he did against Lambert, sub in the second.

I love Nate Quarry, but Jason MacDonald is better at everything in MMA.Nate is too robotic on the feet, espically after the back surgery.

I don't know if Jason will be able to tear through him like Maia did,but I see Jason winning, most likely by decision.

But I'm rooting for Quarry-he might be able to catch Jason coming in like Gouviea did,but I wouldn't bet on it.

WB.
