Oscar is not into MMA. He can’t sit there and tell you anything about the moves or strategies that these guys are using. Oscar is not into MMA, and the people who are in MMA are haters. They will never accept him. Oscar won’t be able to overcome that. How could you not attend a fight that involves a boxer who is a partner in your company in a sold-out arena where they have a statue of you out front? That’s a slap in the face to boxing.”

– Former Elite XC Live Events President Gary Shaw shares his thoughts on the recent partnership between Affliction MMA and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, specifically De La Hoya’s decision to attend “Day of Reckoning” on January 24 instead of the WBA welterweight title fight between Shane Mosely and Antonio Margarito at the nearby Staples Center. Shaw has been a part of both sports at the highest level and perhaps he knows what he’s talking about. Or maybe he’s just bitter about his lack of success in mixed martial arts and doesn’t want to see other people succeed where he did not. Hi hater.

I think it's pretty cool De La Hoya shows an interest in MMA.
If Shaw thinks fans will get mad just because he attends an event,I think he's sorely mistaken.

Gary who? Oh Gary Shaw. Yeah him. What now?
Do we care what he thinks about anything?
He says Oscar slapped Boxing in the face.
Maybe Oscar should have punched Boxing in the face....and knocked it the F out for good.
Slightly kidding.
Yeah it was a joke having Oscar at Affliction....supposedly they paid him 5M to be there. Insanity for sure.
What we have here is a farce calling a farce a farce which makes it all a huge farce.
At least Affliction is still putting on shows....for now.
That's more than Mr.Shaw can say.

I dont think Oscar at Affliction hurts MMA at all. I think it helps it. It gives attention to MMA. I dont think Oscar got paid 5mil. Larry Merchant hates MMA. I dont really believe anything Larry says about MMA, cus he obviously hates it.

As for Gary Shaw, he's an attention hog.

I can forgive natural selection for Gary Shaw, but for letting Skala survive this long that is unforgivable.

What a joke. I can only speak from a fans perspective, but I believe more "boxing" people hate on MMA than vice versa.

If anybody has slapped boxing, it's Antonio Margarito and the allegations of using illegal wraps. I believe they found "hardened" wraps and are now investigating it.

Who was that boxer who later admitted to basically having casts on under his gloves? He gave his opponent a severe beating, but didn't finish him in the ring. That boxer then later died, some believe partly from that beating. The boxer told his opponent's wife years later.

De La Hoya has done more for MMA in one event than Shaw did in almost 2 years, how sad for Gary garbageface, so you got on CBS twice, not impressive sir.
