“I didn’t have any money for a training camp before this fight. Those things cost money man and I just couldn’t afford it.”

– Former heavyweight champion Mark Coleman had an “explosive” reaction in the dressing room after his third round technical knockout loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 93: “Franklin vs. Henderson” at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland, on January 17. He was upset, according to The Telegraph, about the referee’s decision to stop the bout with just seconds on the clock, as well his lack of funds to train properly for the match. Perhaps he will not have similar complaints in the future now that UFC President Dana White curiously awarded Coleman and the Brazilian $40,000 each for putting on a “Fight of the Night”-caliber performance … in his eyes. Check out a video of Coleman’s post-fight reaction in the locker room after the jump.

lol, read this earlier...do you suppose this had anything to do with why the extra bonuses were handed out?

oh what's this? I thought he was going to say "good job" if shogun beat him fair and square instead of making excuses.

I guess complaining about your training camp constitutes admitting defeat graciously, right?

Hi kettle, I'm the pot. You're black.

Actually he said that if Shogun broke his leg he would say good job. Shogun didn't break his leg, therefore Coleman doesn't have to lose graciously...

coleman showed some huge heart and balls the other night. i agree with mark that he deserves more. the ref stopped it early coleman could have survived and actually might have gotten the take down when shogun pounced had the ref not stopped the fight. the ref gave couture a fair chance after lesnar knocked him down in their fight. coleman deserves the same respect. i hope they bring the hammer back for one more fight at hw.

That's what I remember.

Giving this fight a bonus is silly to me. It's more like welfare.

Didn't have enough money to train I didn't know you had to pay money to go out side and run. After two min he was dead on his feet you can't blame his age because Randy is 45 and could go five rounds. No money to train well I don't have money either but I can still go outside and run up and down the street.

I would like to see Coleman again one more time.
Sure Coleman might seem bitter, but I think it's justified.

The bottom line is if Colemans cardio would have held up,he would have won that fight fairly easy on a UD.
Coleman didn't have to take the fight. He could of dodged Shogun and just held his one victory over him forever. But The Hammer isn't like that.Look at his record and just see.He rarely fights easy competition.
Nog,CC,Fedor x2,Shogun. All top names.

If anything I think Shogun should be the one getting criticism.
The guy (though an amazing athelete),imo pretty much took Coleman thinking it would be an easy loss to avenge. He gassed, looked sloppy, and won on a somewhat contraversial stoppage.
In reality Shogun should have won this in the first if he came out in top shape.
