Sources close to the fighter have informed Fightline.com that DREAM middleweight Grand Prix winner Gegard Mousasi (27-2-1) will move up to light heavyweight and may fight at Affliction's third show against the winner of Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Renato "Babalu" Sobral. That fight is slated to take place at Affliction's upcoming "Day of Reckoning" event on Jan. 24.

Either guy would make for an amazing fight. I think the more exciting matchup would be with Soku, because both guys typically prefer to keep the fight standing. If Gegard were to go up against Babalu, it would most likely turn into a matchup of imposing one gameplan upon the other.

Probably why he's moving up.

hence, an uneventful match. Babalu is one of my favorites, but being such a good BJJ and grappling type fighter, his fights tend to bore alittle. No offense, but if I wanted to see a fight, it would be the Soko/Mousasi fight. Now, I know that a Sobral fight would answer more questions in terms of 'can' Gegard handle the 205rs in terms of clinch/grapple/strength, but fighting Soko, you would have an exciting, most certainly a KO.
Overall, I like the sound of it all. Question, I was under the impression Sobral was contemplating, if not planning on moving to MW? Esp. regarding the rumored Lindland fight? Anyways, love me some Babalu so fight on brother, beat Soko, and if you then beat Mousasi, you just earned your spot into the top 10 in my humbled opinion, ha ha

is he even that big of a guy to move up that much? i imagine he walks around that weight or higher, but i never took him to be even a big middleweight, seemed a little below average at the weight and now hes gonna move up? maybe thats just me.....either way, no matter who the winner, either one could put on a awesome fight for gegard

Lindland and Belfort...either would be a great matchup for him.

To be fair, the only reason Musashi is still in K-1 is him being Japanese.
