“I’ve got news, I want to fight at ADCC 2009. My idea is to talk to the organizers and see if there’s a possibility of my being invited, for all the titles I’ve won at the event. I don’t really want to go through the trials in Rio, especially since it’s already too close to the event to be able to train properly. That’s why my idea is to go straight into the main tournament, to go right up against all the toughest from around the world. I even called up Paulo [Filho] to see if he’d get motivated about participating, but he says he doesn’t want to. So I came up with the organizers’ Email, and I’ll be contacting them to see about an invite. I’m excited.”

Lol Paulo wasn't motivated... what a surprise. Wouldnt it be sweet if Arona got back on the horse, won a superfight or had a strong tourney showing at ADCC, won a fight or two in japan and then came to the UFC. Imagine the field day Zuffa could have hyping him against Rampage w/ video of that Slam KO...... He'd have to string together some success for any of it to make sense...

I think it could be a good way for him to get back into the swing of competing again. I think he could go straight into the UFC if he wins in ADCC, they just couldn't put him right in against Rampage they'd have time to build it tho if Arona won a couple in impressive fashion. Gotta admit tho he may not be seen as very entertaining by some in the US if he doesn't get more agressive about finishing as opposed to controlling.

I still stand by my view that Arona would dominate in the UFC.

i'll back that up. the rules of the cage plus the judging would really benefit the Tiger
