After a unanimous decision loss to Thiago Alves at UFC 90: “Cote vs. Silva” in October 2008 — and an epic spat between officials from his management team at Zinkin Entertainment/American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) and the promotion — the top welterweight contender’s future inside the Octagon was suddenly (and shockingly) a huge question mark.

No longer.

MMAmania.com can reveal that The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) alum recently agreed to a 20-month contract extension, which will keep him locked up until almost 2011.

Great news! I was never really a big fan of Josh but I have to say he's growing on me. You can tell the guy loves to compete. Now if we can just get him to fight Fitch.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, if he wins at 95, I would like to see him face the winner of Parisyan vs. Kim.

I agree, I wouldnt say I am a big fan of his but I do get excited when he fights. He is always game and has improved incredibly. I also respect that he fights when he is asked to even on short notice (Thiago). I started to like him when he went the distance with GSP which was a huge statement. Love him or hate him, he is going to be a huge threat in the division for a long time.

THANK GOD AND KOS!!! ive been a huge kos fan since tuf 1 and its weird to watch him get cheered now. however its neat to watch him continue to grow as a fighter and whether or not he will ever hold gold i dont know but the guy will fight and thats something that not every fighter will do

I think the UFC realizes that Josh is way too talented to let him get away. I think he will for sure hold the strap one day. He continues to improve with each fight it seems. And I cant remember ever watching him in a boring fight (except maybe with Diego, but I think that was mostly Diego's fault). I just hope he doesn't turn out to be the Franklin to GSP's Silva.

Im hopping on the bandwagon here. Ive been seriously impressed with KOS since his fight with GSP, since then the guy has shown he is more of a complete fighter as oppsed to the one dimensional self that we saw on the show. I find myself looking forward to his matches more and more and the fact that he took Alves ( future Welterweight Champ? ) on such short notice shows that he really does love this. Props to KOS!

Awesome. Like Axe said, I used to dislike the guy. But his attitude and fight performances have changed for the better. One of the UFC's top performers and will probably get a title shot in 09.
