Ryan Jensen has fought in the octagon 3 times, and lost all 3 fights. He lost to Thales Leites, demian Maia, and Wilson Gouviea. I dont see why he's fightin in UFC again. Plenty of fighters have gotten wins in ufc and then lost 2 fights in a row and gotten kicked out. But Jensen hasnt won in the octagon. Just dont see why they keep bringin him back.
what do you guys think?

I think it's either he has a long contract, or because the 3 he lost to are all good MW's. I truthfully don't see why the brought him back either.

I don't even think Jensen knows why. I think he fought for two fights, left, lost to Smokin Joe Villasenor, got two wins over cans, and they signed him to a new contract, and he got tooled again, this time by Gouveia. In Steinbeiss, he's facing an opponent he might actually have a chance of winning, but the question remains why are they keeping him around.

For that matter, why is Steinbess, his opponent, signed to a contract when he just lost a decision to Carmello Marrero. In my opinion, bring Carmelo back. He already has a decision win over Cheick Kongo.

Jensen fought Gouveia at UFC Fight Night 15 in Nebraska. Jensen is a Nebraska native, and I believe Gouveia had an original opponent (I believe it was supposed to be against Jeremy Horn) until Horn got injured and the UFC contacted Jensen on short notice to fight. I believe Jensen took the fight on just 12 days notice.

IMO Jensen gave Gouveia a good fight and I believe won the first round and looked strong the 2nd round before he got arm barred (if memory serves me correct).

They needed a guy to step up on short notice (12 days) and fight a guy like Gouveia, and I do not think there were too many takers. And it didnt hurt that Jensen is from Nebraska. And Jensen did give Gouveia some trouble in that fight, it was Wilson's 1st fight at 185 and he did look gassed during the second round. I definitely would not say that Jensen got "tooled" in his fight with Gouveia.

No dont do that, did you see that fight? Probably one of the best examples of lay n prey.

Either trying to fill out his contract with his last fight, or giving him a second chance or trying to build up other fighters.

Not sure...maybe he got on Zuffa's good side for picking up the Gouveia fight. Or perhaps they think he'll turn it around...keep in mind that Patrick Cote also lost his first 4 in the Octagon.

Jensen definitely won that first round

The UFC's version of a grappling dummy maybe?

I mean he did defend Maia for like 2mins but it was clear, he is no MMA JJ Black Belt...

Other than that idk.... i have never seen the Gouveia fight but the other 2 wern't like crazy exciting or anything like that....

Good question

I think it's because the old Ryan Jensen is 0-3 in the UFC, but for his next fight he'll be the new Ryan Jensen; so he's 0-0.

Kinda works like a reverse Vitor Belfort transition.

I know everyone wants to just see the absolute best guys in UFC and all the minor leaguers in other promos to get up there, only to get cut back down again if they lose a cpl. But this isn't one league (yet, it prob'ly will be by the time I'm old). And UFC has to have guys that they feel are just barely good enuf, if you can't beat them you can't compete. Plus the fact that all his UFC losses are to guys that are really making waves. (speaking of which I'm surprised they've never brought in Villasenor)

he's in the ufc still because he's a damn good fighter and the 3 fighters he lost to are all in the top 5 or 6 in the ufc mw div.

Jensen is pretty tough. All three of his losses are to top guys in the division. He will get a win before to long.

who cares, we aren't going to see him fight unless it's a highlight reel finish anyways, i could care less if a dark match staple is still around.

Jensen's 3 fights in the UFC have all been on short notice. He stepped up and fought 3 world class BJJ fighters. Against Thales Leites, he was doing well until he got caught. Jensen dominated Wilson Gouveia throughout the fight until the last 5 seconds. Jensen is a lot better than people give him credit for -- he is always aggressive, and exciting to watch, win or lose.

The UFC kind of threw him to the wolves in his 3 fights, and he deserves a chance to actually have a solid training camp, and not take a fight on short notice.
