Good article on Gomi's fall from stardom..

What do you guys think has gone wrong?

Will he ever be back?

The guy has a very impressive record, even with his last 2 losses... but if you look at his win list... it's not exactly a who's who of fighters. Then compare his record to someone like penn's... penn has 1 fewer losses, and half the wins... but look at who the guy has beat, look at the weight classes he's fought in, and look at the calibre of people he's lost to.

I dont know why gomi is losing right now.. its not exactly like he's stepped it up in competition... but i must admit that i'm getting some satisfaction in seeing him drop in the rankings because there are some great lw fighters out there who really deserved to be ranked higher than gomi.

With that said, nothing is for sure until you test yourself agains the best in the world... maybe this is the time to drag gomi into the ufc... if he truly wants to be a world class fighter then theres no way he can do it where he is now.. he needs a change of scenery and a different level of competition.

i always thought Gomi was overrated too.

i got to admit pre bushido 9 i didn't know anout Gomi but about the time after bushido 9 is when i started to catch wind of him.

i didn't see what the fuss was about. until i watched his older fights. it was like when he stopped dying his hair his gas tank and fighters will went with it.

When he had both those things i would easily put him in the top 5 in the world. but now, it's really hard to put him in a top 10 list with such a crazy LW division.

At his age I can't see it being eroding skill, I do think he needs to take some time and get it back. One thing I am thinking that could help him is coming to the US so he's not the celebrity he is over there and focus more on fighting. I do think he has the talent to beat anyone at LW but he just doesn't have the will.
