Josh Neer – a veteran of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and International Fight League – was arrested early Thursday morning by Des Moines, Iowa police, according to the Des Moines Register. Polk County (Iowa) records show he was charged with a second-offense operating while intoxicated charge and eluding while more than 25 miles-per-hour in excess of the speeding limit.

HOW COME WHEN I GET PULLED OVER AND ARRESTED IT DOESN'T MAKE THE NEWS...AND IN ALL CAPS AT THAT?

(Sorry for the caps).

But seriously, this is a dumb move. Some people don't realize this, but it's actually pretty easy to avoid getting arrested.

DUI is the easiest thing in the world to avoid, and I drink all the time. I mean that too, I am a whiskey slamming SOB!!! If you met me you'd soon see double, and I have never even driven one time while intoxicated. Just because your completely hammered it does not excuse your behavior and choices, the sooner people realize this the better.

Anyone that can afford a cab, let alone a limo (for neer) he is insane to drink and drive. Why sports athletes these days who make a good chunk of change, do the things they do. i.e Burress could of hired a bodyguard, or two or three.

I guess it goes to show you what happens with some people when they are not raised the proper way. Learn by their own mistakes. Guess he may be out of the UFC for a 2nd time in a month???, lol j/k

to you jae. i have had a few beers (3-4) and drove but never been hammered where i thought i could out run the cops. drinking and drive then the accident happens. i could care less if its your dumbass that gets hurt in the vehicle and typically its not the drunk however the innocent family thats coming home from something that usually gets the damage.

it seems alot of fighters have given up alcohol and yet there are a select few who think its a good idea to get hammered and drive amonth before the are headliners on a card

I'm going to this fight card and really hope this doesn't spoiler the fight. If it does im really hoping we get something good as a replacement.

Any way DUI is a ridiculous if you drink and then drive no offense to anyone you deserve to be caught. With all the accidents and deaths that come from it and it being so easy not to do and avoid any one who does it should be caught and slapped on the wrist imo.

I think most are intelligent enough to at least not roll the dice on New Years Eve when the boys are in full force. It's almost a certainty you'll get busted.

Sounds like he was ripped though, leading police on a chase and being involved in a three car collision, and being as this is strike number 2 the hammer is going to be heavy. Luckily for him the hearing might fall on a date after his fight, but he's definetely looking at a little time. Nothing serious but probably at least 30 days.

Wouldn't you still be over the legal limit with 3-4 beers? Does that make you more responsible than someone who is hammered and gets behind the wheel?

I don't think so.

i hear 8 out of 10 dentists have a drinking problem. i don't think the ufc should be surprised, they knew the risk in hiring a dentist.
