Earlier this week, Nogueira’s camp confirmed that he had a bad knee injury going into the fight, but had remained silent about it.
Today, it emerged (via UFC president Dana White’s appearance on the Carmichael Dave show) that the Brazilian had also been recovering from a Staph infection.
But Frank Mir was not without his problems either, according to the Wrestling Observer, which reports that the former champion had suffered a herniated disc in training.

I wonder how bad Mike M's injury was when he was fighting CB, because a lot of his leg was taped up. Or maybe he wasnt injured.
As far as nog and mir, doesnt really matter now. The fight is over.

Nogs always banked on toughness but he's the new Arturo Gatti, or at least he looks that way from how much he's been beat up lately.
Herring basically knocked him out, Tim basically raped him before being guillotined, and now Mir exposed his broken cranium too.
Nog's done, as far as I can tell. Even with the Staph problem having been there his performance was bad enough to make it look like he's done.

That is one thing that some people do not understand. Every fighter goes into fights with injuries. It is actually pretty rare for a fighter to go into a fight with no injuries at all. The level of training it takes to perform at the top levels makes it impossible to avoid injury.
I have no doubt Mir and Nog were both injured this fight, and it isn't the first time for either of them. Ultimately the weakness Mir exposed wasn't due to injury, it has always been there.
All the Mir haters and Nog lovers should quit with excuses. Injuries are never an excuse because everyone has them. Mir found a way to win and he was the better fighter that night. He may not be every time they fight, but that time he was. Deal with it.

or mir had to be the better fighter considering he made nog look so bad with a herniated disk.

Nogs injury was too far from his face to matter anyway. I'd be willing to bet that most fighters go into a fight with some sort of injuries. So, that's a moot point IMO.

Hey, its like anything we`ll never know how much of a difference it made, nog might of had a bad injury, but he still took the fight, he knew the stage it was on and the risk involved. I think if nog was making excuses he would have made excuses before the fight to pull out.

I really don't make too much of this story. Almost Every fighter has injuries before a fight. What matters in this case is who dealt with their injuries better, and Mir obviously did.
I also disagree with whoever said Nog is done. I think he's got many fights left, and finally being finished is going to motivate him that much more when (In all likelyhood) he faces Couture.

IMO,to a large extent, playing the "injury" game is pointless, because when it comes down to it,a lot of fighters are injured coming into a bout. I would say it's rare to find a fighter a complete 100%.

I hope the staph infection is why Nog looked so slow, and he's not punch drunk. I don't care if people have injuries, they shoulden't fight, but I don't judge people on one bad performance since they would have some sort of injury.
