Stepping up on short notice is never easy for any fighter, but with the success of guys like Tim Boetsch and Jim Miller, who have taken bouts with little time to prepare, the benefits can be plentiful. The latest fighter to take this task to heart is Arkansas based fighter Mike Wessel, who earlier this week stepped in to replace Mark Burch at UFC 92 against Antoni Hardonk.

I know he's a boxer, but I hope this guy doesn't want to stand with Hardonk. Hardonk has excellent hands, and his ground game is ever improving (I believe he's a purple belt in BJJ). Plus add in the fact that he's with a better camp and has more experience, and it's tough to pick against Hardonk here.

hes from about 2 hours from ya ohiostate1016!!! to win he will most likely have to win via gnp. hardonk is still not very good on the ground. tough fight to take on very short notice but he got a 4 fight contract and hopefully he wins each fight!!

You think that Arkansas is close to Ohio?

And I don't know about him winning four out of four UFC fights. Maybe 1, unless he gets cut before then.

Yeah i see this 4 fight deal getting dropped after Wessel gets dropped. No disrespect but hardonk via decapitation.

EDIT: They keep Hardonk around for a reason.

actually wessel is from celina ohio now he lives in arkansas, he will be stronger and more conditioned than hardonk. wessel is a freak in the gym who never gets tired i dont think hardonk will be ready or be able to handle the pace wessel fights at
