While interviewing Baroni, we asked him about where his career could be headed next, whether a rematch with Frank Shamrock is possible in 2009, what it was like fighting for EliteXC, and more.

He could not compete with the fighters of old.....There is no way he would be able to compete in the UFC at this point......

I can see Baroni back in the UFC at 170, there is a wealth of talent there and his explosive style is pretty cool to watch

My ideal fight for Baroni to be back in the UFC is against either

Marcus Davis
Chris Lytle

or

Mike Swick

Baroni vs Swick has fireworks all over it

I am sure He wants back in the UFC. It'd the big show. I dont think he has the tools necessary to compete at 170 in the UFC. Way too many good guys. He would even have trouble with some of the lower guys at 170 in the UFC. Paul Taylor, Paul Kelly, Burns. Let alone Fitch, Alves, GSP Hughes, A Jonson,Kos, Diego. Phil would be toast IMO

He would have to get a good winning streak going, I think to even be considered. He was at 10-10, now is on a 3 fight win streak. I'd say he would have to win atleast a couple more fights, maybe around 3-5.

Notice he said " even for less money if you want to be a real professional athlete and be a real fighter you should be in the UFC."

The guy speaks the truth. You may or may not like Dana's way of business but this is reality. The UFC is not going anywhere anytime soon except for UP the mountain. You wanna make a name or you wanna be the best in the world then you fight for the UFC. I think they should pay their fighters a little bit more, but he is right. (at the very least increase the top tier fighters)

you know what that wouldn't be bad for him to fight 1 of those guys as his 1 fight. (if they get him signed soon)

I say have him fight a 3 fight contract !
