I got 7 points because I chose a 1st round TKO and it was called a 1st round sub on here, but the UFC called it a 1st round TKO for Cantwell. Sherdog said it was a technical submission. Just wondering if anybody else found this interesting...

It was a TKO. The guy didn't tap and the ref stopped the fight due to injury. That's a TKO.

I hope they change it to the correct result.

when there is a dispute we go to the UFC game . Here is a link. It has now been changed to TKO.

Thanks. Also here's the North Carolina rules:

http://www.nccrimecontrol.org/div/boxing/ncboxingrules.pdf

On page 38:

14A NCAC 12 .0808 SCORING-MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
(a) A mixed martial arts contest may end under the following results:
(1) Submission:
(A) Tap out: when a contestant physically uses his or her hand(s) to indicate that he or she no
longer wish to continue.
(B) Verbal tap out: when a contestant verbally announces to the referee he or she does not wish
to continue.
(2) Knockout "(KO)": failure to rise from the canvas. If the contestant was knocked out of the ring or
cage as a result of a legal technique and is unable to regain his feet, the referee shall consider this to be
a knockout.
(3) Technical knockout "(TKO)":
(A) Referee stops bout because contestant can no longer defend him or her self;
(B) Ringside physician advises referee to stop bout; or
(C) When an injury as a result of a legal maneuver is severe enough to terminate the bout.

On a related note, I could have swore I entered Cantwell to win but the results show I picked Al-Hassan? Has this happened to anyone else or did I just enter my pick incorrectly?

I thought this happened to me once on a secondary league fight, but who knows - I could have just messed it up.

A couple times I've noticed an outcome was different than I thought I had picked- like it said I picked tko instead of decision or something. This is the first time the actual fighter was different than I had intended...

Either I'm totally blind or there was some kind of glitch.

Ah well, at least I didn't drop out of the top 100 even with the mixup.

Frankly, the people who picked 1st round submission deserve the points more then people who picked 1st round TKO. We should be making predictions about what techniques a fighter will use to finish his opponent, not whether a guy is going to tap or make the ref stop it. It was a submission hold that won Cantwell the fight.

Even though I'd lose 2 points if it were done this way.

This has been argued about ad nauseum - as you might imagine. You can search for the thread but I think it was Svartorm that put the debate to rest by saying that there's logical arguments for both rulings, and it happens so infrequently that it's not worth changing the MMPG policy on it.

I've been on the other end of the spectrum a few times due to guys tapping out to strikes...so it's nice to have it go the other way for once .
