"Did you see the production? And that was HBO. Maybe they should give us some of their Emmys. The pacing was awful. There was no energy in the crowd. They had to loop Pacquiao’s music when he came out because he had to walk so far."

-- Dana White, UFC president, trashing the horrendous production (and by extension the undercard matchmaking) from last night's De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao pay-per-view on HBO.

Boxing so far dead that no amount of time could bring it back. Mayweather will come back just in time to fight another over the hill fighter or a new comer. Then he will drag the fight out 12 rounds win a diss and then talk about how he is the greatest and how fighters in MMA are guys who couldn't make it in Boxing.

Lol I don't think he'll run out of money, but I think he'll come back for another huge pay check.

EDIT: How is boxing dead? they had a gate of like 18 million. I think the only people who think boxing is dead are MMA fans.

Boxing will never die. Simple as that. Boxing has relinquished the king of combat sports crown though.

Boxing was dead in 05 and 06 till they realized they actually had to compete. What kills boxing and makes most of the last remaining stars of the sport the 40 and over old asses is the fact that the marketing is dead and people don't want to pay 50 bucks.

The problem is anymore the undercard is bull shit then a great matchup with oversized pillows for gloves and a 30 foot ring. People don't have to actually fight anymore because they put their hands up and each glove is the size of their head. Boring as shit these days if you're not a boxing purist. The "safety" rules (14 oz gloves on a 160 pounder so he can take 400 extra shots to the head before dropping in a comatose state) have destroyed the sport along with the lack of unity.

But boxing won't die. Ever. It will always be there. #2 combat sport under MMA, assuming the UFC doesn't crash and burn.

So what you're saying is the sport has been destroyed by rules that only exist in your head? In professional boxing 8 and 10 oz gloves are used.

Give it time it won't be in a year but with the way MMA is rising in time it will fall. Your right it was dead in 05 then in 06 but if you will look at it 20 years ago then 10 years ago and look at it now it is nothing like it was and its only getting worse. Like I said give it time.

Boxing's been "dying" alot. It was supposed to be dying a few years ago, then it's had some huge ppv's now Oscar getting wooped has brought it back. Lol I think it's all in your guys head's, they still do well over what the UFC does for gates and ppv's.

While I'm not gonna argue whether boxing is dying or not, since it doesn't really interest me enough to care...boxing still does much better gates than the UFC, but gets stomped pretty consistently in PPV buys, with the exception of an occasional superfight doing really well.

The last boxing match i watcheed was with my dad it was Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson. lewis absolutly destroyed Iron mike with his jab and that was it. With the influx of MMA i think boxing is dying. a lot of great strikers are starting an MMA career. American wresteling combined with great boxing might be the perfect combo for MMA. Hopfully we can get the boxing kids with the wrestlers and start an AMERICAN DOMINATION of MMA.
