Consider it an early Christmas present.
Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki, two of the world’s top four lightweights, have verbally agreed to fight one another at K-1 “Premium 2008 Dynamite” on Dec. 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Monte Cox, who manages Alvarez, confirmed the news to Sherdog.com on Monday.

Awesome match-up, and i assume the winner is going to fight the winner or Hansen- JZ.

Awesome matchup, 2 sublime fighters with very different styles
As always I am looking forward to the New Years Eve card c/o Japan
Just a shame that we don't have Pride as well as K1 to look forward to

If it's an MMA match, I give Aoki a very good chance to win.

This should be a great fight. We'll actually get to see what the final of the DREAM LWGP should of been. Should be a great fight for sure, definitely a competitive fight. The classic striker vs. grappler. Winner should definitely fight the winner of JZ/Hansen.

Which guy are you calling the striker? Aoki is a JJ whiz and Alvarez is a wrestler.

Two of the top four lightweights? Alvarez is top five possibly but Aoki isn't even in the top ten. Who has Aoki beat to make him top ten? and the same goes for Alvarez?
They're both great fighters and it should be a great fight. Just don't say a fighter is ranked higher than he is just cause you're partial to him.
