“I’d accept a fight, I’m a professional. Demian is a great fighter and has been doing a great job in UFC. It’s possible that they put this fight, because the belt is with a Brazilian guy and we’re growing, so they can put this fight to take one of the Brazilians from the tops. I believe it’d be a good fight, we almost have the same game and it’s kind of different from the American guys, who goes from striking and work on the ground n’ pound. We know each other’s game and it’d be a huge fight. Demian has been doing a good job, but I’d accept this fight.”
Thales Leites — who is on a five-fight UFC win streak (5-1 overall) — has no problems taking a fight against Demian Maia sometime down the road. Maia is on a four-fight tear of his own inside the Octagon, winning all four of his fights via submission. Locking the two Brazilians inside the cage would go a long way toward helping determine the top contender in the division. It would also be one hell of a ground war — each fighter boasts sick jiu-jitsu skills. Sooner rather than later, please, Joe Silva.

I would love to see this fight, it could prolly a #1 contender fight or the winner goes into a #1 contender fight.
I think I would go with Maia.

I've wanted to see this fight since Maia's sub over Herman. Should be a JJ war, if the McDonald fight was awesome this has the potential to be better. Let them wear GIs and take the octagon fence down

This would be a sweet fight, I just dont think Leites would be able to outwork Maia when it goes to the ground. I hope it happens.

Thales wouldn't stand a chance, I don't know if anyone in the world stands a chance with Demian Maia on the ground.

I think Thales has had an easier road, especially considering he "won" that fight with Marquardt. I don't think the match up would have anything to do with the fact that they are both Brazilian like the MW champ though, don't know what he is saying there. I'd be a little afraid of this match up though if I were the Joe Silva. Their BJJ skills may just cancel each other out, making the winner the man who does best in the stand up. In that case I'd probably say Leites, otherwise I got Maia by UD. I think his BJJ is a little better, top control mainly.

Would be a great fight. I personally think Thales Leites could have been a major player in BJJ tournaments, but he has focused more on using his BJJ for MMA. Either way Demian Maia's BJJ is on another level.
Thales has the better standup, though it's extremely close. I think Demian would pull out a desicion by controllling the action on the ground, but he'll have a hard time submitting Thales, and I wouldn't be surprised if Thales could put Demian in some compromising positions. Jason MacDonald was able to do so and think Thales BJJ is much better than Jason's.

This could have the potential to be a classic. I would take Maia to though by Submission in the third round.

I think joe rogan would go crazy in this fight, like not even letting goldie talk, he'll just be screaming out the ground moves.
