Pat Miletich, founder and patriarch of Miletich Fighting Systems, is tired of watching all the young whippersnappers having fun. He wants back in the ring. Miletich says he’s done extensive rehab on a longstanding neck injury, and feels it’s time to test himself in action. On Dec. 11, he will dip a toe back into MMA waters, facing Thomas Denny at Adrenaline MMA’s second show, in Moline, Iowa, Miletich Fighting Systems’ backyard.

I'm sure he'll still be able to handle cans but I think if he tries to compete seriously he's going to find that the sport has passed him by.

I'm rarely excited to hear about fighters coming out of retirement. He had a great career and followed it up with a great camp that produce a number of champions... Why not just leave it at that and go out as a legend?

40 is the new 30. Seriously, I think we can "blame" Couture, but it's almost like some of the 50-60+ guys still going in wrestling-you're in it for so long then you get away from it but stay close to it through training fighters or similar, and after you do it for a while that competitive fire really starts burning again and you want to get in there one more time and show those young whippersnappers that the old man's still got it. Personally, between Randy, Mark Coleman, and others doing this, as crazy as it seems I'm just going to sit back, enjoy the ride, and relish in the opportunity to see guys I never may have gotten to see fight otherwise.

You said it, good that Pat still has the competitive spirit but this is more and more a young mans game. The fighters who are coming up have more well rounded skills and are better athletes. Pat's time was done when Newton beat him all those years ago and everyone remembers when Renzo tapped him with that standing guillotine in the IFL. Even the Miletich system has faded from the light in the UFC.

Now I would like to see the guy fight, don't get me wrong. What they need is an MMA legends promotion for these older guys who want to go at it. I would pay to see Pat, Bas or even Oleg fight I just don't want to see some young buck take their head off.

Pats got some physical injuries that I don't think he should risk by coming back again. He's a legend without a doubt. but I don't want him coming back and getting messed up because of prior injuries.

And Thomas is no joke. Sure he gasses quick but he is game and is very aggressive and pretty strong at first. He could very well upset a legend.if Pat is not completely ready for this.

Pat is old, prone to injury, and has not competed regularly in years. The sport has most likely passed him by, a guy like Denny in my opinion is still a test to Pat. 5 years ago I wouldn't have thought that way. For Christ's sake Renzo subbed him with a standing guillotine!!!

This is a bad move for Pat. He is risking lifelong injury and for what. He has proven he is a great fighter. Maybe even better coach. Made a huge camp with MFS, and had mutiple champs out of there. He has nothing to prove.

ALl the more reason for someone to put together an orginazation for these older fighters who may still have it in them to compete but just can't hang with the younger guys.. Heck Get Pat in there, Royce, Ken, Bas and there list can go on, Would it not be great to see Bas and Ken go at it again? Or Bring in Dan Severn against Royce?

Pat was great in an era where there were very few complete MMA fighters. Now nearly everyone has a well-rounded game, and hes going to have a hard time cracking the upper tier. I think hes got a shot against Denny, but there are very few fights out there that I think he takes at this stage. I hope he gets a win or two under his belt, learns some new things to pass onto his students, and returns to teaching.
