UFC and Pride veteran Kevin Randleman may face Josh Barnett at Sengoku 7 on January 4th, his team have told Fighters Only.

Having been forced onto the sidelines by various injuries in recent years, Randleman has recently stated that he intends to have as many fights as possible in 2009.

And rumour has it that one of those fights may be with Barnett in January, as Sengoku are struggling to match the Baby-Faced Assassin.

Speaking to Fighters Only earlier, a spokesman for Randleman said: “Kevin is going to focus on light-heavyweight for now.

“But I can see that Sengoku is having trouble getting opponents for Josh, so it is always a possibility.”

Randleman himself said: “After the last few years of setbacks due to injury I just want to fight. I am not picky and not one to turn down an opponent, so I am just looking forward to giving the fans some more great MMA memories to talk about.”

He added that he hopes to return to fighting in America in 2009, as he “cannot wait” to get back in a cage.

Why is there talks of this fight happening? Is Randleman ranked? Barnett is highly ranked. I just don't think this fight makes sense. Barnett would own Randleman. I don't know, that's just my opinion.

I think Barnett would win by submission or decision.

It was May 18, with Sengoku where he fought a relatively unknown japanese fighter. He took the decision and didnt look great, but he mentioned that he was extremely injured going into the fight.

As far as the fight, Barney is too good of a grappler for Randleman to handle. Barney round 1 sub by heel hook.

I know this is my first post but....
Randleman is intense, no matter who he faces he basically gives them all trouble. If he could focus he might be great. I think Randleman could win, hes not training with Coleman (fulltime) anymore and I think that could make a difference.. .

I guess you didn't see him fight Shogun, Chuck liddell, Randy Couture. They didn't seem to have such a hard time against Randleman. Randleman is a phenomenal athlete but he under performs in almost every fight he's in.

I think barnett would sub him in a round(maybe two if barnett gets sloppy).
