When last we saw Ortiz, he was at the October 4 EliteXC show announcing that he was going to sign a contract with the organization soon. EliteXC is now finished, but Ortiz isn't finished saying he's close to signing a deal.

In an appearance at last weekend's Rumble in the Park in Fresno (broadcast today on HDNet's Inside MMA), Ortiz said, "It's either going to be with the UFC or it's going to be with Affliction, but guaranteed, you guys will see me fight -- no matter what -- by July."

Ortiz also mentioned that he had back surgery last month, which he deemed successful. He also said it was the same surgery that Nate Quarry had, and Quarry was out of action for 15 months after his back surgery. So Ortiz is very optimistic if he thinks he can guarantee that he'll return just seven months after the surgery.

I think it would have been funny if he did sign with EXC then the folded the next day he should stay with the UFC if he knew what was best for him all the repect to affliction but they don't stand a chance vs UFC

Affliction is like one of those jobs where you can make a bunch of cash but it won't last long and you end up at that old reliable job where you started(UFC)

sorry if there is any mis spelled words the acohol just kicked in

As much a Tito fan as I am, I have a hard time believing this just because of how many times we've been through this before. However, if Dana actually comes up with enough cajones to re-sign Tito despite all they've been through before, I will indescribably mark out. And probably have a good laugh. He'll probably wind up in Affliction unless they go under after the next show, then it's either UFC or Japan.

Haha, tito isnt coming to UFC, he's going to affliction. Because in the UFC I can't see him beating any of the top guys, so what throw lower guys at ortiz that would prolly still give him problems.

Have ortiz fight outside the UFC to show that he has changed his style and can throw hands and try more submissions.

Don't get me wrong, i like Tito fighting too, but he and his bitch ass manager :D are making it harder and harder for him to fight.

They talk so much bullshit, it's pissing people off.

Forget UFC. He will never fight in UFC or WEC.The stupid 'Dana is my bitch' T-shirt cut completely his way back. Well He thought, EliteXC will last - stupid f**k! :D

Dana should bring him back. Whether you love him or him, and whether he is still a legit contender or not, Tito Ortiz is one of the top draws in MMA.

I dont think the UFC has alot to gain from signing Tito, not for the money he'll be asking for anyway.

His drawing power will decline along with his inability to win fights, nobody is going to pay for a PPV just because Tito is on the card especially when he is floundering in the LHW division.

UFC should sign Ortiz and make him fight Luiz Cane. I won't mind seeing Tito knocked out again.
