Just days after MMAWeekly.com first reported that Matt Riddle would be forced out of his upcoming bout against Ryan Thomas at UFC 91, a replacement has been found as Matt Brown has been confirmed to step in on short notice.

Brown confirmed the fight to MMAWeekly.com on Saturday.

The last time Brown competed was at UFC 88 in Atlanta dropping a somewhat controversial decision to Korean fighter, Dong Hyun Kim.

The Cincinnati based fighter has recently been working with stablemates like Jorge Gurgel and Rich Franklin while taking time to work with MMA guru, Matt Hume, and his team of fighters in Washington.

Hume’s camp has become a hot spot over the past few months with fighters like Brown, Franklin, Gurgel, Jens Pulver, Spencer Fisher and Hayato Sakurai seeking out the longtime MMA trainer for his expertise.

Brown will now move onto the UFC 91 undercard to face newcomer Ryan Thomas with just about 2 weeks to go until fight time.

I don't understand how that decision was at all controversial. I think Joe Rogan and Goldy need to get back to OBJECTIVE announcing because as of late they seem to be basically telling people who is winning and often times they're just flat out wrong. Then they act surprised as though the guy didn't deserve to win. I think they're letting bias effect their opinions and as a result it really sways the opinions of people who are uninformed or on the fence.

Kim clearly won rounds 1 and 3 IMO. It was a close fight for sure, but I don't see how you can give 2 rounds to Brown in that fight.

i could sort of see how he was given round 3, but i agree with you. i scored it 29-28 kim. but i did think it was a really close fight

i like seeing matt brown fighting so much. I liked him a lot in the house and hope he does well. He's an exciting fighter whos pride and toughness make him very charismatic.

I see him winning this fight decisively.

i got brown winning but i hope he gets knocked out, i just don't like guys with that tough guy attitude. the guy fights in the ufc, he's obviously a very tough guy he doesn't need to act like he is nuts.

I dig Matt Brown. I'm not sure he's ever going to be any GREAT fighter, but he brings it every time and he's got a gritty attitude. That's something I can dig.

To Aether- I agree with you. It especially bothered me in this last UFC.

Looking forward to seeing Brown back in the cage. His last fight was good against a tough guy. He should be able to TCB against Thomas. I'll go Brown TKO 2nd
