Former Elite XC lightweight contender Nick Diaz today formally filed a breach of contract notice against Elite XC, which closed its doors earlier this month, to ensure that he can legally remain an active fighter in the days and months ahead with no restrictions.

I am seenig lots of people trash Diaz over this. I think it is the smart thing to do. The fighters are not free agents yet. They are still under contract to Elite XC and currently their contracts could be shopped around for a buyer. Something I think Elite would try to recoup some of their losses. That could take months. These fighters need to fight to earn a living, this measure makes sure he can compete elsewhere as soon as possible.
