World Extreme Cagefighting and the organization's biggest star, featherweight champion Urijah Faber, will test the pay-per-view waters in 2009.

The organization, which was acquired by the UFC's parent company in December 2006, went from a regional hit to arguably the world's current No. 2 fight promotion with the UFC's backing. And now, after building a solid audience on the cable channel Versus, the WEC will make its PPV debut next year.

Im not payin for that. I dont have the money for all these ppv's I only pay for the UFC ppvs, the others I just stream. I think zuffa will find out that WEC wont go over well on ppv. they'll be back to versus before to long

Yeah, that's unfortunate. At least we'll still have Dream and Strikeforce on HDnet.

19.95 ... I'll pay
24.95.... I'll think about it
30+ ..... nahh

By that time they'll have only BW,FW, LW and WW..... some good fighters that's for sure, but their talent pool is not too deep to build up a solid 5-fights main card yet.

really what could WEC put together that would make people, most people pay for it.
It would need Faber against someone else that the WEC does not have right now for one.
And Torres against I don't know, a Cheetah??

I expected this and really not too upset about it. no way do i think it will be more then 1-2 in a year and will still hold some cards on vs too. id think about 20-30 for the ppv and it would have faber, torres and condit likely on it.

Well, I'm just going to throw this out there. Their first pay per view will most likely be Faber vs. Torres. Their two most popular fighters going at it. Other than that, you don't know what they could come up with. They may take guys from the UFC and put them on the card as well. Maybe Carlos Condit vs. Jon Fitch or something along those lines. Something else you have to look at is the cost for this pay per view. Like everyone has mentioned so far, many will not pay to see the WEC. It would have to not be as expensive as UFC ppvs and also incorporate some UFC guys because I don't believe the WEC can hold its own in the ppv market. Just my opinion.

Its kinda sad because most of the time WEC puts on better cards then any other org. I think its gonna be hard for the the WEC to get off the ground but advertisement won't be in short supply thats for sure.

its not the solution, but adding women's mma would be a good start

Zuffa can pick up Elite XC talent and put them in WEC to build and help promote the brand separately. Think about Eddie Alvarez dominating the LW division, even though he could easy enter the UFC in the LW division there is so stacked and rich already that I think he gets lost in the crowd. Also as another poster said adding woman's MMA would be a good idea
