Decent read. Not sure Cote would have won, but overall some good points.

"One of those heavy hands was going to connect eventually. Silva was in unchartered territory for him in the UFC – beyond round two. Cote had the chin to stay in there with him and with ample time in a title fight, one of those overhand rights was going to catch Silva and force him to show he is not only talented but also durable."

Anyone else Agree??

I know that Cote has a nice overhand right, but he kept putting his chin down when he threw them. Silva is so evasive (learned from BJJ training) that he could avoid the haymakers from Cote and then knee him in the face. We saw him do it 2 or 3 times, and one would have eventually put Cote to sleep.

No disrespect for Cote, though. I definitely think he showed that he can hang with The Spider, and I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him get another shot.

what he said ^^^^^^^

Silva was toying with him, yeah Cote took a few shots and was still standing, but if SIlva had landed a barrage of knees, punches and kicks ala Franklin and others I'm fairly confident Cote would have succumbed in the end

Cote had a punchers chance, but that was all, and Silva can take a punch all right, go find the sparring vid of Silva and Big Nog, Nog catches Silva with plenty of hard head shots (without headguards) and Silva keeps on ticking.

I think in order to win you have to be able to hit your opponent......One of those shots didn't have to eventually land because they fight for 25 minutes....not a year so Cote's shot wouldn't eventually land as Silva is too elusive. He fought a smart fight and Cote had no answers for those in and outs.

Sooner or l8er Cote would have been dropped or Silva would have won a UD.

Absolutely NOT, Patrick Cote would have not won. He lost both rounds and was getting schooled. He was missing everything he threw at Silva. He doesn't even have good enough knock out power to knock him out. Cote has great power but Silva has a better chin. Cote doesn't have the best knock out power. Silva was toying with him.

I don't know why Cote is even expecting props for "taking Silva into the third". Not a whole lot happened and it was a boring fight upto the injury (except for a few sharp shots by the spider). Cote didn't even deserve a shot IMO the Almeida fight was a poor show to convince everyone that you belong in there with the best.
Dissapointing main event, join the back of the queue "Predator"

Def agree. Also the fact that his knee is bad shape. Its honestly a shame that it happened but i dont think he had much of a chance against Andy even though he played what seem to be stupid games with him.

It's not...but I don't think anything else needed to be said.

maybe if he landed a punch in the first two rounds, wait i still don't think he would have won.

I think there was a great chance Cote could have won.
Silva was frustrated and bewildered.
He didn't have many safe opportunities to attack....and when he did....Cote wasn't hurt. Normally, after any of his punches, kicks or knees his opponents are hurt, dazed and in no condition to defend themselves.
It wasn't like that with Cote. Cote shrugged it all off and defended himself in the process.
Cote was chasing Silva. Not the other way around.
Cote may have eventually caught him.
All he had to do was daze him....and then pounce.
Cote could have won that fight.
