This past Wednesday's episode of "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir," which featured controversial cast member Junie Browning's quarterfinal fight with Roli Delgado, scored 1.7 million viewers, an increase of nine percent from the season's first five episodes.

Additionally, the Oct. 22 episode had an audience 35 percent larger than the season low of 1.1 million that tuned in for the third episode of the reality series on Oct. 1.

Spike TV today sent the ratings information to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) via email.

With the recent ratings revival, in doubt aided by the antics of Browning, the eighth season of the show is now averaging 1.6 million weekly viewers. The seventh season of the show ("The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest"), which aired earlier this year, averaged 1.3 million viewers for its 11 regular-season episodes.

The only basic cable stations that beat Spike TV and "TUF" this week were Comedy Central (with "South Park" and "Chocolate News") and FX ("Son of Anarchy").

Wednesday's episode of "TUF" peaked with 1.9 million viewers for the Browning-Delgado fight, which took place in the final quarter hour of the show. Browning, whose drunken rampages and confrontations with other cast members have resulted in ratings jumps over the past few weeks, recently told MMAjunkie.com that his actions were the result of being locked in the "TUF" house.

"You're in Vegas, and you can't go anywhere or do anything, so you let loose a little crazier than I normally would." Browning said. "I don't necessarily act like that at home. I can go out to a bar and drink, but I don't mess with people or anything. Once you're in the house, it's almost like being in high school again. You're around a bunch of young guys, we're all crazy and drinking, and I don't like being messed with at all."

i don't. he has an appeal to the general American public. i'm not saying i like it, but we can't ignore the obvious correlation.

I haven't seen much of the current season so i shouldn't really have commented.

But i was just making the assumption that ratings were up because of all the news about EXC folding and the fight fixing situation has given MMA more exposure just lately.

Nah. I'd have to agree and say it's because of Junie.

And that's another reason why I think he'll stick around with the UFC, even if he gets "beat off" the show.

I think people like to see the bad guy lose and tuned in hoping that would be the case. Also, this kid hyped his fight more than any of the previous competitors just by causing a scene on every episode. I think he has been in every preview/commercial for TUF, with the narrator saying "This week on TUF, Junie does this or that" or something to that effect. He has to be the most known fighter on the show to the casual TUF watcher. They may not remember who all of the guys are, but I bet they remember him and therefore tuned in to see his fight.

No its bc Andy Silva was there as a guest trainer cornering Delgado. u can hear him screaming orders but he didnt listen and now we see the outcome. If i was in the Ring i'd do exactly what Spider was saying.

I want to see Andy Silva as a coach on the TUF. Screw the language barrier. He does alright without needing sub-titles.

Too bad all those extra viewers were treated to one of the least technical matches I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing.

Couldn't agree more. It really was a horrible fight... tentative would be the word i would use to best describe it... either that or sloppy. Can't argue though people like watching conflict and with Junie they sure get a lot of it. Personally the only reason why i think they let him stay on the show is because the producers of the reality show wouldn't let the opportunity for "good" tv pass by. Junie's antic in the house would make me feel unsafe even sleeping in the same house as him. Who would know what would set him off next, plenty of sharp things in a kitchen, whose to say he wouldn't just snap harder each and every time he goes off. Anyway it is my opinion that Junie is a "disgrace" to fighters everywhere, regardless of if its the house thats doing it to him... WHICH I SINCERELY DOUBT!
