I turned my Xbox on earlier and instead of flashing green it flashed red!!! NO!! I cant afford a new Xbox. Sorry I just had to rant for a minute!

call them with serial # and receipts on hand, I'm a PS3 user but all of my friends have Xbox and this has happened to them. I think is call, they send you a box, you mail it and they fix it. It doesn't take long I think.

do you still have the xbox warranty? Call 1-800-4MYXBOX and ask for a real person, and they'll let you know if your warranty is still active (they renewed peoples warranties a while back due to this). They will tell you to send the xbox to them and they'll either fix it or get you a new one for free.

All i needed was the serial number, you'll have to read it to them over the phone and they'll check your info. They used to mail you a box but now they allow you to use your own to speed up the process. As for time, the first time i sent it in, it took about a week, the second time took over two weeks but they apologized and said it was harder to fix.
Keep your hard drive at home when you send the box away, unless they tell you otherwise
Even if you dont have warranty left, i think it's only $150 to repair it compared to buying a new one, then they give you a new warranty on the repaired one

i just sent off my 4th xbox bc of HW failure & they kept repairing it, until now. i finally get a new system
but trust me dude, ive been there

unfortunitly for me i got preasured into trading Xboxs with my cousin and the xbox i have now is modified, so i cant send it in to get fixed. it pisses me off cuz i didnt want to trade it (i traded him about 6 months ago) but im one of those people who doesnt like to tell people no or argue so i decided to trade him anyway and now im screwed.

I work with some guys that buy broken xbox's and fix them to sell. You can get the directions to repair it yourself online. Pretty easy. Will cost you about 30 dollars worth of materials up front.

ya that happened to me and i sold everything to a friend cheap and he got it fixxed for free. i just didnt wanna go through with it. So i lost like 50 bucks but i didnt care i never played it. Now i wish i had it though.

I got the rrod a while back, but me and my bro both have xboxes so i just switched the hard drives so it looked like his broke. So my mom took his back to where she bought it, and the guy messed up and gave her a replacement rather than sending it off. Anyways, next day and lord behold, the xbox i switched is freaking rroding to. I couldn't believe it. I got lucky though, my mom used the recipt from the xbox she took back the previous day, said she got it home and it was already broke, so i ended up getting a replacement on the spot to.

It usually comes back about once a year and all it takes is a little ointment to make it go away.
