I didn't want to post anything else on this, but the situation is getting more and more ridiculous every day.

It's hard to know what to make of Jeremy Lappen. He tried to clarify his numerous contradictions today with Michael David Smith of Fanhouse.com, and instead admitted Seth Petruzelli told the truth the first time he spoke:

Regarding the controversy over whether EliteXC paid Petruzelli a bonus (or, as some would call it, a bribe) to keep the fight on his feet, I pointed out to Lappen that he had seemed to contradict himself about what, exactly, EliteXC offered Petruzelli.

Lappen was quoted by Sports Illustrated as saying that EliteXC does not give submission bonuses, while he was quoted by ESPN as saying that Petruzelli was offered a submission bonus. Lappen said both stories misquoted him.

"They're both wrong," Lappen said. "We have given submission bonuses in the past but they're not as common as knockout bonuses. If the question is, 'Have we ever given submission bonuses?' The answer is yes. But we give knockout bonuses more often. We gave Seth a knockout bonus before the fight started. That was part of the deal."

I've listened to two interviews with this guy and and a couple with Seth. In my opinion its a tangled web. Not Good. Not good at all.

Looks like $kala isn't the only retart running the show over there. If I didn't care so much about the sport I'd actually enjoy all of this. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Jesus this needs to end soon.

I remember days on the forums (elsewhere in cyber space) when folk were applauding boxing's demise and MMA's rise and making statements like how boxing is much more corrupt compared to MMA. Well, look at what the cat dragged in... Frickin' pathetic.

If this is supposed to be the UFC's competition hopefully they get crushed soon. Or new management, whichever comes first fastest.

These are exactly the type of people that need to be away from the sport. He can coat it any way he wants the way I perceive what he is saying is that they bribed Seth to stay standing. How else could it not look like that? Am I missing something? What a joke!!!!!

This is how boxing began it's downward spiral. People getting into the sport without knowing how to successfully run the business. Stuff like this leads to more fuel on the fire for hatred of MMA. Lets get these clowns out of power and allow the grownups to play.

it makes no sense to give someone a "knockout" bonus BEFORE a fight...i could understand if they said "if you knock kimbo out theres X amount of dollars waiting for you" but to give it before hand makes 0 sense, because going into the fight he already has the money and creates no influence to go right for the KO like if he was told he would get it after the fight

again Shambo XC stinks of fish...

I dont get this. EliteXC does have alot of good fighters in their stable, they don't need to be doing this crooked shit to have GOOD fights.

Well I think most hardcore fans know that's EliteXC is shady. I had no doubt about this after the JT vs Kimbo fight. But this just shows that they have and will keep trying to manipulate fights.

Right.

Unfortunately, they don't give a flying f*ck about hardcore fans. And they shouldn't.

It's still fight fixing doesn't matter how he spins it. They offered him a KO bonus before the fight. That means they are trying to alter the outcome of the fight.
