After what might have been its most successful night as a mixed martial arts promoter, ProElite finds itself on the defensive. For the past several days, the Los Angeles-based company has been fending off allegations of fight fixing.

Shortly after stopping Kimbo Slice in 14 seconds in Sunrise, Fla., on Saturday, last-minute replacement Seth Petruzelli began granting interviews. But it was the one he conducted Monday with an Orlando, Fla.-based radio station that has put ProElite under the microscope.

"The promoters kind of hinted to me and they gave me the money to stand and trade with him," Petruzelli said on "The Monsters in Orlando" show. "They didn't want me to take him down, let's just put it that way. It was worth my while to try to stand up and punch with him."

That org is so retarded. Gary Shaw's son doesn't know what he's doing. Although he's really good at blowing money and running an organization into the mud. He was even openly rooting for Kimbo and screaming to the ref about Kimbo being hit to the back of the head. Then we hear that Seth was receiving death threats and someone even threatened his wife (or girlfriend, idk)!! That's not what this sport is about. As far as I'm concerned, I hope they do go under. They have a few good fighters and they can go elsewhere, but I hope the company goes in debt......

Wouldn't that be hilarious and completely ironic if a former UFC TUF contestant/fighter with pink hair ends up being solely responsible, both through knocking out their poster boy and his comments in post-fight interviews, in bringing ELITEXC down??!!??

Dana White
""The Mandalay Bay and Venetian [casinos] took bets on that fight," White told ESPN.com. "If you're a fan of mixed martial arts and you sit down and do all the stats and you're like 'man, if this thing goes to the ground, Seth Petruzelli can win this fight, I'm gonna bet on Seth Petruzelli.'

"Then you don't know the promoters are paying the guy and saying 'don't go to the ground?' That's criminal. If that was in Las Vegas and the Nevada Athletic Commission had put that fight on, the FBI would be investigating them right now.

"This is how it hurts [UFC]; it hurts our mainstream growth. The people who aren't hardcore fans … ask me 'Oh, you have that Kimbo Slice guy.' And I have to say no, 'I don't have Kimbo Slice.' I would never bring Kimbo Slice into my organization."

this was at the bottom of the article so i figured i'd post it for u lazy folks out there

I think they have to do this. I'm really glad that they are as well. I don't know if Seth had a slip of tongue or what ever but idk how they investigate these things but hey pretty much all I can say is GOOD.

Whats bad is you don't hear this kind of stuff about any other MMA company. There was some stuff said about Pride but is was always said by pissed off x-pride fighters. EliteXC has only had 3 events on CBS and now 2 of them have had allegations of fight fixing and both times they involved Kimbo. Both times fairly solid proof in both cases that there was some truth behind those allegations.

Kimbo vs JT
The fight goes to the ground and JT gets side control and before he can do anything with it the Ref stands the fight up. Then JT gets Kimbo down again and again in side control. Kimbo is unable to defend the elbows of JT for over a 1min and half. Then instead of stopping the fight like he should have the ref is talking about standing it up. Then you have one of the Refs giving Kimbo the 2nd round even after JT controlled the hole round and the fight should have been stopped. If anything it should have been a 10-8 round in JT favor. Then you have the ref stopping the fight standing. When JT had been rocked many times but everytime was able to get the upper hand.

Kimbo vs Seth
Seth says he was basically paid to keep it standing. That's fight fixing no matter how you cut it. Then comes out the next day saying that's not how it went down. Then Shaw and Lappen nothing like that happened, then the next day Jeremy Lappen says they paid Seth a KO bonus before the fight. You don't give a KO bonus before a fight.

Something needs to be done about this before they run the image of MMA further in to the ground.

i agree with the your post, but i would like to comment on the worked fights in Pride. the Japanese are known to work a fight on occasion as it is usually just for entertainment purposes. you see this with a lot of the Japanese pro-wrestlers that were transitioning into MMA. from what i understand you could not bet on these fights and they were just to please the crowd so it is not the same as Elite XC; i just wanted to say that the fighters that made those allegations about Pride weren't just being butt hurt.

Kimbo is the Primo Carnera of MMA.

Oh yeah, I had to reach waaaaaaaaaaay back for that one

The problem with EliteXC was trying to protect Kimbo from being exposed.

Kimbo has been exposed.

Problem should be solved and maybe, just maybe Elite can try going straight - meh.

Regarding your post, I don't completely agree. Now, if you see my earlier post, I'm disgusted with EXC and the Shaws. There's no excuse and it looks bad on the whole of mma, which isn't fair. But the Kimbo/JT fight, it was stood up too early, but those refs aren't employed by the organizations themselves, they work for the state atheletic commissions. Granted, its possible they could be crooked, maybe take some money on the side. Now that I think about it AA/Rothwell was stood up when Rothwell had side control.......I don't know. You could be right. However, I hope your not, for all of our sakes. Gary and Jerrod Shaw need to get out and stay out of the business.

Something needs to be done about this before they run the image of MMA further in to the ground.
