The fantastic welterweight match up between Josh Koscheck and Yoshiyuki Yoshida, which MMAmania.com first passed along right here, will serve as the main event for UFC Fight Night 16: “Fight for the Troops” at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C., on Wednesday, December 10.
USA Today today confirmed the complete line up, as well as talked to “Kos” about his big 170-pound showdown with “Zenko.”
It's been rumored, now it's official

this is a great match-up. i want to see Yoshida do well in the UFC so i am hoping he can use his judo skills to gain good position on Kos when he goes for the double leg and maybe secure a nice front choke. The UFC really wants to get Yoshida in the mix and i like that...what a great fight to headline this card.

agree, Really like Yoshida. The first timei heard Karo vs Yoshida i thought Yoshida would take it for sure, shame that didnt go through. He has a good chance against Kos, but it defenately a step up in competition. I'd love to see him pull out the win, but for now i'll go with the safe pick and take Kos UD. yoshida has got tons of potential, and IMO can hang with the best of them. should be a war.

I was all over YY when I first heard about the Karo fight too. I think he's got one hell of a future in the UFC...Maybe not WW champ caliber, but very strong to say the least. I really liked the Karo match-up for him. I thought it was a genious move by the UFC to build him up quickly. That being said, I think Kos is a little too big of a leap forward for Yoshida at this point. But, you gotta take your lumps if you want to make it in this sport. I wish him the best in this fight.
btw- Awesome headliner for a free card!

I would love to see Yoshi take this one, because I'm a fellow judoka, and because I hate Koschek. I mean for some reason I just love to hate Josh.
That said I've seen Yoshi's last..seven fights I think, most of them happening in Cage Force, which was an awesome organization. I think it was the only Japan organization to use a cage...not sure if they're still around.
Anyways Yoshida really put himself on the map when he beat Akira Kikuchi and Dan Hady back to back even though he won over Dan Hardy by DQ).
I really felt strong about his fight with Karo because I thought he could get Karo on his back. Problem here is I don't think he can do that to Josh. Yoshida is awesome when he can get on top and use elbows. His elbows cut people up like they were made of shrapnel. Unfortunately he's going to be on the bottom and his guard isn't the best.
He has a never-say-die attitude so I know he's not going to quit, but Josh could easilly pass his guard and mount. I think Yoshida is going to give it his all, but ultimately Josh will punish him from top position.

I really dislike josh koscheck and I would love to see Yoshida beat him but I just don't think he's ready for someone of his calibre. I think Koscheck takes this relatively easily.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense in terms where these two fighters are considered to be ranking wise. Koscheck is probably top 3 in the division (or top 5 at the least) and this is the guy's second fight in the UFC.
Could be a good fight, but this just looks like they are giving Josh a softer opponent on paper.
