Houston Alexander has apparently heard internet rumors to the effect that he’s been dropped from the UFC or has fired his entire coaching staff or desperately needs to learn the ground game. Oh, wait. That last part’s not a rumor. Anyway, the point is, he’s sick of it. So to clear the air and talk directly to fans without the filter of the MMA media, he turned to the Fight Magazine MMA blog:

People keep asking me what my plans are, they have read things all over the internet about my future with the UFC and how I am firing my coaching staff. So I thought I would address the rumors and my upcoming plans.

NO – I have not lost my UFC contract.

NO – I have not fired my coaching staff.

NO – I am not going to step down and fight for smaller organizations.

The loss last month was tough, but life goes on. People need to remember that I have only been fighting professionally for a year and a half. I have made great strides during that time, as well as faced some setbacks. My training will continue and we are looking at visiting some of the larger camps for additional training and strategy for my next fight. I have a lot to learn and am hoping to have everything straightened out before I enter the cage next time.

I don't think it much matters considering how tough the LHW division is in the UFC. He will never do anything in that division, especially considering his age. With that said, he's still fun to watch, because either he's knocking someone out, or someone's knocking him out, all in the first round. I like Houston, but the truth is, he'll never be in the top-5 in the LHW division in the UFC.
I would like to see him fight Kimbo though. I think he'd knock Kimbo out.

Maybe he has been fighting FULL TIME for a year and a half, but he had professional fights in 2001, so that is no excuse to have seemingly never taken a grappling class in your life despite competing in the UFC.

Even if he doesn't fire his coaching staff, he still needs to train with a camp that will evolve his non-existent ground game. I really wanted to see him come out with a victory and seeing him lose, in his home state no less, really made me almost shed one... but seriously, I think the guy is a good person, good character that many people don't have and I would like him to have a good run in the UFC in the future.

houston is never going to compete for anything. but he will still provide exciting fights. undercard or fight night is where he belongs, and he seems to be able to accept that. The ufc will keep him around as long as hes not involved in boring fights. i know that when i see houston alexander on a card, it makes me more excited for the card. He hasn't made it out of the first round yet, win or lose. that statistic will keep people watching. a la kenny florian, houston alexander finishes fights, one way or the other.

i must be the only one that doesnt care to watch houston fight....no offense to anybody that does or even houston for that matter...but i like competive fights were high skill levels are involved, if i wanted a brawler id watch kimbos youtube videos....everybody is right in saying at least your gonna see something happen when he fights in the first round....but up until that point, its sloppy, soooo sloppy...we all know he doesnt have a ground game, but he has no stand up either, hes slow, inaccurate and has no technique...but he does have power and thats got him a long way, so props to him for taking advantage, i would too.....but to me the shine has worn off and its time to fill his spot with fights that matter
