Big matchup added to the card, Wgney Fabiano vs. AkitoshI Tamura. Fabiano was the final IFL Featherweight Champion and is making his long-awaited WEC debut, while Tamura is the #2 Featherweight according to Weekly's rankings. There are also rumors that the winner of this fight will be the next challenger for Faber or the first challenger for MIke Brown depending on who leaves WEC 36 as the Featherweight Champion.

I can't see how Tamura is a big underdog to Fabiano. I know that Waggney was a beast in the IFL, but Tamura is a Shooto vet with a lot of experience against some of the top fighters in the world. He has wins over Rumina Sato, Takeshi Inoue (#5 FW on MMAWeekly), and a close loss to Hideki Kadowaka (#3 on MMAWeekly).

Looks like I'm gonna make some big money...

My guess is a lot more people have seen Fabiano fight than have seen Tamura fight, myself included, but that's not stopping me from picking Tamura. To be the #2 Featherweight in the world means you must be pretty good even though Fabiano's a Top 10 himself.

Final card is now in first post, note a couple of late changes and added fights. Also, the Bowles-Ribeiro winner likely will be next in line for a Bantamweight title shot.

I've been looking at the picks for this event and admittedly one thing puzzles me a little bit-why no or so little love for Tamura? True, Fabiano is a Top 10 FW and certainly no slouch himself and I know a lot of us probably haven't seen Tamura fight before, but this guy is a Top 5 FW (Weekly ranks him #3 now) so I would think he'd get some more respect based on just that.

There is no way Tamura is a top 5 FW. Not in skill or based on records. I can understand why he was ranked that high after beating Fujimiya, Wicky and Lion. But even in winning those fights he looked pretty beatable. And after losing to Kadowaki you can't justify ranking him that high. MMAWeeklys rankings make no sense. They have Tamura over Kadowaki.

Still Tamura is a solid fighter. I'm not saying Fabiano will walk over him or anything. I am a little surprised not more people are picking Tamura to, even if I'm probably picking Fabiano myself.

Always a pleasure to watch Torres in action. Plus some very intriguing contender bouts. Bowles-Ribeiro, Fabiano-Tamura, Bartimus-Karalexis, tons of great fights on this card!
