This probaly isnt the explanation for everybody but here is what happend with my group of friends. I was at home from college for the weekend so i watched it by myself at home.

The other people that watched it and later talked to me about it where divided into two groups. One didnt know what channel it was on and proceeded to channel surf til they found MMA on. What they found was a UFC replay on Spike. They proceeded to watch that until Goldie mentioned that the main event was Rampage Jackson and then they called me and i told them they were watching the wrong thing. The only EliteXC fights they saw were Jake Shields vs Daley and Kimbo's fight.

The other group tuned in for the Radach-Rua fight, figured out approximately when Kimbo's fight was going to be on, changed the channel and came back for the Kimbo fight.

This shows me two things. First, the UFC's counter marketing is working even if unintentionally. Second, a lot of people tune in just to see the Kimbo fight.

The other thing ive noticed is that if im watching the fights with them, they are far more interested because i can explain whats going to them They are clueless in grappling battles and they think its boring unless i explain it to them.

I am slowly converteing them though.

Let me get this straight... EliteXC payed Arlovski HALF A MILLION DOLLARS FOR ONE FIGHT?! Groundbreaking in MMA, too bad it isn't happening again anytime soon unless it's Fedor in another Org. That is crazy though, half a mil for one fight... Arlovski doesn't deserve that, not a fighter of his caliber

First off Affliction paid for the fight not EliteXC.

Second, how do you reason that "a fighter of his calibre" doesn't deserve what he made? It sounds like you're implying he's not good enough to be making what he is which is crazy IMO. Arlovski is one of the best heavyweights in the world, as well as one of the most marketable.

Lastly it's sort of groundbreaking, but it already happened on Affliction's last card. Affliction's payroll for their first card had a handful of fighters who were paid similarly or more. Tim Sylvia was paid $800,000 to show against Fedor and I'm pretty sure his win bonus would have pushed it over a million had he gotten it.

ok enough about standing them up, was it a bad choice by the referee YES, but AA wasn't going to get submitted, Arlovski escaped i believe 2 submission attempts of Nelson, but Arlovski has good submission defense and is very skilled in Sambo so lets not assume Arlovski was gonna get submitted

While i can agree that i don't think Arlovski would have been submitted, i wouldn't go so far as to say that he wouldn't get sub'd either because anyone can be sub'd just like anyone can be knocked out. All about being in the right place at the right time.

Also, Liddell has been getting paid 500K per fight for a long time now. Since his fight with Rampage.

And the likes of Couture and Rampage aren't far off 500k either.

yeah rampage gets nearly that much but he needs to win in order to do it. Chuck gets 500K for a loss. I don't think he has a win bonus, I think he has a flat fee to show.

And yet Gina only got $25,000 (or 35). That's not right. Though she's in a contract and it's hard to change once your already in it. Still though, it isn't right.
