Penn, Edgar, & Sherk are the only UFC lw's id pick over him right now. His style is very similar to guida's IMO but with a much much better bjj game. I think hed beat Guida again, Huerta, Griffin, Aurelio, Tavares, Stevenson... No one is going to tap this guy and he has the takedowns + transitioning skills to keep alot of top talent on their backs.

Florian im up in the air about, i could see it going either way.

wow whoever thinks hes not top 20 is just plain silly. this time last year he was top 3 LW and top 5 p4p on most lists..

i think he'd be able to beat anyone besides BJ in the ufc. look at his fight with clay guida for example, just a good old fashioned spanking for 5 rounds

He would make a good addition to the UFC. He's always been a bit overrated though. He has great wrestling and he's ridiculously strong, but he's not really an explosive guy. I don't think he can deal with the speed of Thompson in a rematch. Really the fight wasn't even close the first time.

Styles make fights anyone who trains or competes knows this. Gilbert is a bad style match up for most of the 155lbs fighters in any orginazation. Im looking forward to him fighting often in 2009 and winning some memorable wars in whatever orginization he ends up in. Whether he stays in Strikeforce or goes to Bellator or the UFC everyone will be back on Melendez's nuts by the end of the year just like they were after he beat Guida and Kawaijiri.
