Melvin Manhoef has retired following his semi-final loss to Gegard Mousasi in the DREAM middleweight GP earlier this week.

His team - Mike's Gym, headed by Mike Passandier - made the announcement earlier this evening, according to German-language site Ground and Pound.de

i want to wait to hear more from him, but i think that the fact that his ground game has never really developed no matter how hard he always said he worked on it has a lot to do with this. im guessing that we will see him again in k-1 next year at the very least. the guy is/was one of the most exciting fighters walking the planet that the mainstream fans never heard of, so this is sad news as a fan of combat sports.

He's just pouting over the damn loss. Did you guys listen to his post fight interview? He said stuff like "Well, he didn't have the balls to stand and trade with me."

Quite your damn whining and spend your time off looking for a ground game.

Big deal.

The word "retirement" has absolutely no meaning anymore.
Then should just remove it from the dictionary.
