As a single fight, Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson on next month's EliteXC "Saturday Night Fights" show on CBS doesn't do a whole lot for me.

If the "Pitbull" version of Arlovski who battered and stopped Ben Rothwell inside three rounds back in July shows up against Nelson, the bout could be over in a hurry, with Arlovski getting his hand raised and the scene shifting quickly to the next bout on the card.

It's what this fight means for the future of EliteXC and Affliction that has me counting the days to Oct. 4. Affliction's willingness to sublease Arlovski and Nelson puts fans a step closer to seeing, perhaps, the biggest fight to be made in mixed martial arts today – Fedor Emelianenko against Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson.

No joke, but I doubt a Commission would authorize a Kimbo-Fedor fight. The one thing I remember from the Dana-Tito boxing fiasco, besides anger at my wasted 2 hours, was that they almost didn't authorize the fight, because of the skill differential. That concern was for what, a few rounds of what would basically be sparring in a sport neither one practices? I think Fedor's 25 fight win streak against many top guys might be a little too outside the realm of Kimbo's 3 wins against guys with a combined 33-34 record.

But hey, if they do allow it, I could probably clean up making bar bets by putting some money on the out of shape Russian guy against the great Kimbo Slice. Have you seen his youtubes?

If Rashad can KO Chuck... ANYTHING is possible, ANYONE can get LUCKY so Fedor might have a chance, maybe...

I thought they had rules concerning fighter safety???? wasn't mir denied a rematch with sylvia cause the commission didn't think he was back to that level? Fedor by death 25 seconds rd 1

If this fight happens I am watching it in the bar and make even money bets on Fedor all night long. I would love this fight because it might give me a chance to retire early.

Just show Fedor handing flowers in the fight between Cro Cop and Overeem and tell him " come on Kimbo will kill this guy. He's a flower guy, easy money"

Fedor, What are you thinking? So much controversy about Fedor being the best ever. Mostly because of his choice of opponents. Champions fight champions. Champions fight top 10 fighters. Champions do not fight over-hyped fighters with so little experience.

If a fighter as accomplished as Fedor is recognised by most of the MMA world to be the best P4P fighter in MMA to date, it is discrediting to see him fighting such green fighters. I understand you must get paid, but I think he is past that point. He makes plenty of jing no matter where he goes.

I know his management takes care of the business, but Fedor has the final say.

He faced Tim Sylvia. A fading top 10 fighter, but still top 10 so it's good. IT was his 1st top 10 in 3 years, before that being CroCop. And then Nog almost a year before that.

Barnett, AA, Couture, Werdum, Cro Cop, Gonzaga, Mir, Nog, Lesnar
These are the fighters he should be fighting.

ok some awesome posts all.. I am sitting here rolling..

This could actually be good for Fedor in the eyes of the casual fan...

Kimbo is EXTREMELY over hyped.. FEdor for as great as he is is honestly barely known to the casual fan... so is complete and utter domination of the Great Kimbo Slice would elevate him in the eyes of most casual fans to where he really is in the eyes of more hardcore fans...

To make it fair though... Fedor should have to fight twice that night first he should have to fight a rabid Grizzly bear who is having a bad day... then kimbo might survive the 1st minute... though I do not think a Rabid grizzly bear would sign on to fight since it is not that dumb.

As for comparing this to Brock and Randy.. there is a big difference.. Brock actualy has a legitimate chance to win.. Kimbo's only chance to win would be through divine intervntion.

my jaw dropped to the floor seeing Brock getting a title shot after winning 1 match in the UFC.... and now this?

I mean seriously come on... if Thompson gave him that much trouble... what makes him even think he'd stand a chance against Fedor?

I dont think this fight will ever happen. the article says that the aa vs roy fight opens the door to the possibility of kimbo/fedor but look at the fights kimbo has been recieving most of them are cans and shamrock has aged out of ever being a legit contender.

if fedor was a huge draw then the fight might happen but fedor to the average fan is a complete nobody and seeing a nobody come in and destroy the casual fans poster boy would be devastating.

fight predictions-
fedor wins 99/100 with whatever he feels like
kimbo wins 1/100 with a lucky strike (which would be devastating to of all of us)
