Really? I thought he looked like he was in very good shape. His standup looked solid. Very quick and crisp punches. Great cardio.
I guess his competition wasn't the best, so they weren't pushing him hard, making the wins pretty easy. I'll have to go watch the fights again. Too many fights to remember.
Well, let's nix the Kalib fight because despite the fact Quarry did not look impressive there, Kalib allegedly had a broken foot.
The Sell fight was a joke. Quarry looked like he was punching pillows. Sell is not even a great fighter and he was close to having Nate's number in the (2nd?) fight, but didn't engage. I don't buy the theory of ring rust in this fight either. Why? because he looked similar in the Kalib fight and also, ring rust does not mean your striking or grappling technique all of a sudden goes bye-bye.
Whether it's a result of his back operation or not, I think it will show when he fights a better fighter than Sell or Starnes. The fact that Franklin (who I don't hold on the highest pedestal of fighters either) laid him out so badly told me that Quarry was not as good as he appeared to be in his first few UFC fights, that, I might add, were against guys that were not even top 20 MW fighters at the time or ever. It is my opinion that Quarry has some how convinced a lot of UFC fans that he is a great fighter because he had 3 Rd. 1 TKOs over lower tiered fighters.
I could name the top 10 MW fighters in the UFC and Nate Quarry will not be on my list.

Quarry, I think he's cooler and just because Maia outclassed MacDonald on the feet doesn't mean he's a good striker.
he's cooler? good call...that is what i base most of my picks on.......
ps: who is that in your av
yes i have often showerd, i mean wondererd who she is.
It's Allison Danger, an independent wrestler.
And yes coolness does play a factor on who I pick if I'm torn between fighters.

Nate will be able to keep it standing In the first round and a half or so, but once Maia takes him down (which he will), he's going to sub Nate.
Maia 2nd Round Armbar.

if herman and mcdonald submission specialists get caught what makes you think a striker won't. maia can strike a little but i think he will get quarry on the ground quick and sub him in the 1st

I just don't see Quarry will be taken down. He's going into this fight knowing he needs to keep it on the feet and will most likely be working a ton on his takedown defense. I see a quick knock out.

I'm going to have to go with Quarry on this one. Maia seems too one-dimensional in the sport of MMA. His only TKO victory was in the way of his opponent getting injured.
Quarry is a big Middleweight and a strong wrestler. If he can keep it on his feet, I see a knockout in Quarry's future and Maia's first loss inside the octagon.

That too, coolness, wrestling and size.

Nate's wrestling is good, but not good enough to keep Maia from taking him down.
Nate has a great base and rally wide hips. It's goingto be tough to take him down. He also has powerful leg kicks but if he begin throwing them he's going to get taken down.
To beat Demian Maia Quarry would have to be at the top of his game, bt unfortunately he's going to come in with a lot of ring rust.
