While EliteXC officials declined to offer specifics regarding a possible fight to determine a new lightweight champion for the promotion, sources informed FiveOuncesOfPain.com earlier in the week that the company had been considering an option that would involve Nick Diaz and Eddie Alvarez competing for the newly vacant title in a featured bout during a tentative Nov. 8 card.

Not sure if I agree....although I do see him winning. I think he is good enough to stand-up with Diaz and when it goes to the ground he will be able to avoid subs and land some good GNP. I just don't think he will "walk right thru" Diaz....no one ever does, he's tough as hell, accurate and fast with his hands, and his BJJ is just outstanding. I'd take Eddie by UD.

i also like diaz, he's stood toe to toe with better strikers, and if sean sherk couldn't take diaz down i don't think alvarez will have an easy time of it.

KJ Noons and Jeremy Jackson (the first time) walked through Diaz...and pretty easily at that. i'm not saying that Alvarez will walk through Diaz, i'm just saying that it has been done before. and before anyone argues that KJ only won because of the cuts, think about how badly he was dominating the stand-up.
Alvarez R2 KO if it happens.

This is what I would like to refer as a dream match up for me. I think both of these dudes have some serious skills not too sure what would happen if they were to meet, but if I had to pick right now I would Probably take Diaz via unanimous decision.

Great Fight for Eddie, he gets to Fight more competition and if he Wins this he'll take my # 2 Lightweight Spot, I hate having Gomi there, he's like a Paper Champion to be honest but still a Great Fighter nonetheless, but going on to my Analysis, If Nick tries that pitter patter boxing on Eddie, then he'll loose which I think will happen, so I'm taking Eddie via 1st Round T(KO)

i agree. if he wins i can finally get rid of Gomi from my top 2...it pisses me off that he occupies that spot.
