Veteran UFC middleweight Jason MacDonald (21-10 MMA, 5-3 UFC) has signed a new four-fight deal with the organization.
KO Dynasty, a sports management company that recently signed MacDonald, alerted MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) of the fighter's new deal.
MacDonald is fresh off a solid victory over Jason Lambert at UFC 88 -- one that earned the 33-year-old fighter a $60,000 Submission of the Night bonus. MacDonald took the fight less than a month after his UFC 87 loss to Demian Maia.
Terms of his new deal were not disclosed.
MacDonald, a former Maximum Fighting Championships fighter, is 9-3 in his past 12 fights. He made his UFC debut in 2006 and garnered some early recognition by scoring submission victories over "TUF" notables Ed Herman and Chris Leben. Additional UFC victories have come over Rory Singer, Joe Doerksen and Lambert.
The UFC has not confirmed when MacDonald could next return to action.

The loss to Franklin cemented him as a gatekeeper, he's a scrappy, talented fighter, who puts on a good show, I mean in just 5 fights(wins) he's won Submission of the Night three times and Knockout of the night once.

I have to disagree with you guys. How can you say for sure he will never hold the title? He already has great submissions, decent standup, and most importantly he has tons of heart. He is for sure in the upper 25% of the division. So long as he continues to improve, I see no reason he couldnt be champ someday. (It also helps that Rich may have now moved to 205 )

Doesn't MacDonald only train part-time, though? I thought I heard that a while ago. Not sure if it's true now.

The only reason i said he will probably never hold the title is due to a man name Anderson Silva....I think he has the potential to beat anyone else in that division....

also Palhares would absolutely tool him. not to mention Hendo, Okami, Marquardt and Cote, all of which i believe would also win handily

Not everyone can hold the title, you need guys to fight on undercards and maybe challenge for the title, and build up the young guns of the div. Good re-signing.

You know what he's another guy that you can never count out. He impressed the shit out of me in the Maia fight. I'm glad he's sticking around

Marquardt, Maia, Bisping, and MacDonald are my top 4 dudes below Anderson, and I would love to see any combination of the 4 of them fighting. At some point in the future, one of them has *got* to defeat the guy.
He simply cannot win forever, can he? I'm not including Hendo and Okami because I dont like their fighting styles and I really dont think either of them will ever hold the MW belt in the UFC.

really? you mean you don't think Hendo can ever be the MW champion? because if you do you obviously did not watch the first round of his fight with Anderson. if anyone in the MW division is going to beat Anderson Silva it is going to be Dan Henderson. Maia is one of the most talented JJ fighters to ever grace the UFC and is one of my favorite fighters, but Palhares would absolutely tool him. as for Bisping, i would wait until after his fight with Leben to put him ahead of MacDonald.
and you can't just not include two fighters because you don't like the way they fight. it just doesn't make sense to me.

I would take Dan over all 4 of the guys you say are better then him and I only see Nate beating Okami. How can you not like the way Dan fights?
