I was browsing through the "what are you listening to" thread and I realized that
a: there are a lot of people who like a lot of the same badass metal that I do and
b: I don't remember seeing anyone link this site.
So here it is.
Last.fm
It's basically like a "myspace" type of thing except it's for music. You download a tiny plug-in that runs in the background when you start up your media player (don't worry, it consumes virtually no resources at all) and it sends information about what songs you're listening to to your profile. Then it tells you who has similar tastes in music, what message groups you would probably like to join, what concerts are going on in your area involving bands/genres that you might like, recommends bands you haven't listened to that are similar to bands that top your chart. All kinds of cool features. Also, when people ask you what music you listen to, you can just go like this:

Everyone should check it out, it's a pretty cool site, especially if you listen to TONS of music like I do.
