First let me say, I mean no disrespect at all to Evan Tanner or his family. He was a good fighter and I respect him very much. But I honestly want to air some thoughts that have been sticking in the back of my mind. About a month ago (give or take a week) I recall reading an article interviewing Tanner about this hiking trip he was going on into the desert. I recall him emphasizing the dangers of the trip and how he could easily die if he were to have an equipment malfunction.
Now to my question... Does anyone else think it's possible Tanner faked his own death? I find it suspicious that he emphasizes the dangers of this trip and then he turns up dead. Yet I have not been able to find a single article or statement on the cause of death.
I'm not accusing him, I'm just suspicious. Does anyone know any details that could answer my question?

I don't believe for one second he faked his own death. He was a explorer and a adrenaline junkie sure but I think its just one of them things. Plus theirs much easier and less painful ways to top yourself than extreme dehydration and sun stroke. He txt his friends and family asking for help as he had run out of gas for his bike and after then it was only a matter of time before he ran out of water. Theirs always risks when you push yourself and this time Evan wasn't able to overcome them. In answer to your question he died of heat exhaustion or something along those lines. I read it somewhere but and remember where now.

Ok thank you. I'm sure my suspicions were based on lack of information. Thank you so much for the info.

do you mean fake his death like so everyone thinks he is dead and years later he is still walking around looking different so no one will recognize him? if so, i don't think he did. with all the respect i can give, i can't help think maybe it was closer to a suicide.

Why we even having this talk. For one the people that knew Tanner know he wouldn't take his own life. Also there hasn't been one person in his family, friends, or investigators even mention suicide. It was just something that happened it can happen to anyone no matter how good of shape your in. I also don't understand how any could think he faked his death that's also something Tanner would not do and he doesn't have the means to do so. Why cant we just agree its a tragic loss and remember the man for being a great man in and out of the ring. Why don't we leave the question to the ones doing the investigation and his family because some of you making guesses is not just disrespectful but also unfounded.

I understand that the issue of death can be very touchy for some people. My goal is not to offend people or disrespect Evan Tanner. Hopefully everyone agrees that genuinely and honestly discussing the facts of life, of which dying is one of them, can be very healthy and helpful during the grieving process.
I honestly felt there was something suspicious about Tanner discussing the high likelyhood of his death just a few weeks before he died.
I am very saddened by the loss.

I agree it can be healthy but that's not what you are doing you are talking suspicions and theories.

My friend texted me, telling me that Evan Tanner was found dead. I figured, maybe he relapsed and it was a drug/alcohol related incident, but he told me he was just found out in the desert and I went . But when I started hearing what actually happened, it did kind of lead me on that he may have been going out there with the intention of not coming back. But it makes you think, if he was going out there with the intention of never returning, do you think he would've brought his family and friends along? It does look a little bit suspicious, but Evan doesn't seem like the kind of guy to ever give up.
