Cave man incredible hulk like bulky- But id way rather see him improve his stand up than lose muscle and drop- he was fighting a pretty damn good fighter and a great wrestler- he probably has better TD than we think and his stand up is not bad- we will see more of him ....at 185

I think he is too big to drop to 170. Plus he has only lost one fight at 185 and to a guy who held two titles at once in hendo. So talking about palhares moving to 170 shouldnt even be mentioned. Shame on you for making this thread.

It looks like he would have a really hard time dropping to 170. He should stay at 185. Everyone knew this was a tough match stylistically. Give him credit though, at one point he was abe to pick up a world class wrestler and slam him. If he hadn't scored takedowns towards the end of rounds he might have had more time to make an opening rather than trying to force one.

losing one fight doesnt mean he should switch weight classes, thats getting talked about way too much lately. the guy is thick, and it looks like hes naturally like that(dont get me wrong, he obviously has packed a ton of muscle on his frame), so im guessing a weight cut isnt even something hes considering because it would be extremely hard to do. hes a MW lets just let him be a MW.

a) hes too big b) loosing to hendo doesnt mean he needs a drop
and an unrelated c) i want to see him get a KO HL reel with one of those sick side/hook/spin kicks

Yeah there's not gonna be too many guys at 185 that can stop a jiu jitsu onslaught like he provides. Hendo is as tough as they come, so if anybody thinks a win by Hendo over Palhares means Palhares won't be able to hang at MW is joking themselves. Hendo can beat 80% of fighters at mw and 80% of fighters at LHW, too.

he needs to move up to the states and work his wrestling.
hendo was THE WORST matchup for him at 185. Arguably the best wrestler, with much better stand up. if palhares moved up to extreme couture he could get his game up a few levels (i.e. jacare), but we're yet to see that

imo, Palhares would absolutely murder Maia. it wouldn't even be close.

See this sucks! Alot of ppl counted Dan out because he lost to two Champs in a row and "He is on the down side" Thats all BS Dan Henderson is prob top 5 p4p def in 185 and prob 205. But very one doubted him. Now Palhares comes in and dose a great job with one of the best fighters in the world and we have guys sayin he should drop to 170? that guy is going to be real tuff at 185 and needs to stay there. I don't think anyone should be calling for any 185er to drop down they need as much talent as they can get.

No way he's dropping bulk and moving to 170.
Otherwise he'd have to give up that awesome nickname "tree stump"
