Heading into this weekend’s UFC 88 in Atlanta, there will be an intriguing match-up in the middleweight division of two fighters headed in different directions at this point in their careers.
On one hand, you have former Pride dual titleholder Dan Henderson, nearing the twilight of his career and currently on a two-fight skid. On the other, you have Rousimar Palhares, in just his second year of fighting and on an impressive six-fight winning streak.

nearing the twilight of his career.... Give me a break. He's on a two fight losing streak because he fought the #1 fighter in two different weight classes, one of them is on track to become the most dominant champion in UFC history. It's not like he's an old ass man who can't fight anymore.
I really hope Dan wins in impressive fashion so people will shut up with all of the "dan has his back against the wall" and "dan is nearing the end of his career" nonsense. It's so stupid. Anytime a fighter takes a couple of losses people get so dramatic. The guy is still top10, arguably top 5 in two divisions. He loses his belt and he's instantly at the end of his career?
If he loses this fight and maybe another then that kind of talk will be warranted. Right now it's just foolish and disrespectful.

The twilight of his career really isn't a stretch. Not just that he's lost 3 of 5 but that he's 38. He did just beat Wanderlei a couple of years ago, but at his age you watch for signs of a decline a little more closely.
I don't think Dan's finihed but if he loses to Palhares it's a sign that perhaps MMA is starting to pass him by.

I'm loving how everyone thinks that this Rousimar guy is the next best fighter to beat Silva when he hasn't even beat Dan yet...and I will laugh long and hard when Dan beats him, and he's taken down a few notches.
Dan is still an amazing fighter. This Rousimar guy might be great, but he's not going to be fighting for that title anytime soon. Dan will make sure of that.

I've got Palhares in this one, but Hendo is by no means done. He is a legend in this sport and will probably fight for years to come. Palhares is a top level JJ fighter and if this fight hits the ground, Hendo won't stop the sub.
Even if Palhares wins, I don't think that he will get the next shot without taking on Maia or the winner of Leben/Bisping first.

I couldn't have said it better myself, so I had to let people read it again. I think Dan is going to crush Rousimar. I don't think Rousimar doesn't have enough experience to beat Dan. It's a big jump up in competition for Palhares, good luck.
WAR Dan

Don't know why almost everyone seems to be looking past Hendo.
