Former UFC light heavyweight Champion Tito “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz was a guest on HDNet’s “Inside MMA” this past Friday to discuss his future in the fight game.
There were reports a week or so ago that placed Ortiz as the newest addition to the Affliction MMA roster. Apparently those reports were a little premature because Tito’s asking price was a little too high for the t-shirt company-turned MMA promotion.
So where does that leave perhaps one of the biggest draws in the history of the sport?
Well, he’s still a free agent … for now.
Ortiz — ever the business man — played the fence on where he could land, listing almost every organization as a possible destination — even the UFC.
Here’s a snip:
“EliteXC — possibility. Affliction — possibility. UFC — a small chance of that happening. The things between me and Dana White, I’m shoving it off and moving on with my life.”
So after all the back-and-forth, is it possible we haven’t seen the last of Ortiz inside the Octagon after all?
It’s obvious at this point in Tito’s career that he’s trying to get one last big pay day. It’s like a 28-year-old NFL running back trying to cash in one more time before hitting the dreaded 30.

i dont see him signing with ufc. If he can't get the big money he wants then he has affliction and elitexc over the ufc. Or take a couple of affliction fights and lose those and then go to elitexc.
I vote for him to just retire.

He should sign with both.....he can do that with EXC and Affliction unlike the UFC. So long as I get to see him get destroyed by Babalu then I will be happy!!!

Even with Kimbo, it would be nice to see a freaky match up again! I miss Arona too, whatever happened to him, haven't seen him since his fight with Soko in Pride.

I think the UFC is where Tito should stay. He is known there, and a lot of his fan base lies within the UFC. The largest promotion in the world, and he is still one of the most marketable fighters there is. I think he needs to stay.

Maybe he should worry about getting his first win in TWO YEARS before he worries about a record breaking contract. His drawing power is really fading fast. There's a lot of other big names out there and Tito hasn't done anything notable in a long time. I think most people (including myself) are getting tired of hearing him talk and never delivering the goods.
He can't fight like he used to and he can't sell tickets like he used to. You missed the boat tito, just start fighting or retire and enjoy your pornstar wife. No one's going to give you over a million dollars to fight, which is what you would need for a record breaking contract.
