Saying Josh Burkman has been inconsistent in his UFC tenure could be an understatement. He has a 5-4 record in the Octagon, including two straight losses to Mike Swick and more recently to Dustin Hazelett. “This is a big fight for me. I’m coming off 2 losses in a row and my contract is coming up in Nov. So there is some serious pressure to win.” Burkman recently said via his MySpace blog.

Since his season 2 appearance on “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, Burkman has become one of the more well known fighters from the show but success in the Octagon hasn’t followed.

It’s hard to complain about losing to the likes of Jon Fitch and Karo Parisyan but Burkman didn’t looked too impressive in his losses to Swick or Hazelett. To Burkman’s defense though, it could be argued that he really won the fight with Swick.

Burkman has made changes to his training for his upcoming fight with Pete Sell at UFC 90. “I’ll do the majority of my training in Las Vegas at Xtreme Courture,” Burkman continued.

I would like to see Josh start to get on a winning streak again, I think he's been humbled and his ego is what use to make me not like him. I like him cause he's got great strikes and awesome slams! Pete Sell has never really impressed me....seems to fold under pressure.

This has loser leaves town written all over it, and frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if both guys got cut if this fight is a snoozer.

Burkman TKO 2nd.

Sell is lucky to still be getting fights in the UFC imo.

Another loss here and he's gone.

Burkman via TKO in the 1st

Both of these fighters are very inconsistant. Both have fought some tough guys , but never really did enough to make a statement. I think that Pete Sell will have a size advantage giving him an edge in reach and strength. I see Pete Sell winning this one by a decision , but if Burkman knocks him out I wont be surprised.

I am shocked to see Sell back, I think he is a good fighter,he did decent in his last UFC(till he got KTFO), I think he could win this, but the full year of ring rust will probably play a factor, and he'll likely lose.

Anyway always in hopeful spirit, my prediction is Sell by TKO in the 2nd round.

Didn't Burkman say he would retire if he didn't win his last fight?

The one that he lost?

Why is he still fighting in UFC?

I believe he said he would retire if the fight went to a decision.
