French UFC heavyweight contender, Cheick Kongo, who was last seen in action at UFC 87, knocking out debutant Dan Evensen in the first round, has been ruled out of action for a number of months with a shoulder injury.

Kongo is said to have suffered the injury before his last outing and fought through the pain but will now go under the surgeons knife ruling him out for the rest of the year.

This was originally confirmed on ESPN's MMA Live

Guess it's time to talk some other legend back out of retirement for Lesnar...Couture's last fight if the rumors are true, perhaps?

Likely wouldn't happen at 91 unless something happens to Antoni Hardonk-Cain faces him at 90. And I don't think UFC wants them fighting each other yet, they need to gradually build them up separately.

this is not the 1st post ive seen like this. Cain has a bright future but what does he have on Brock?? Youth?? Brocks still fairly young

Not sure I could find any reason that Cain could beat Brock- TOOOO MUCH POWER.

well i dont mean to sound bad but im glad kongo is having the surgery instead of facing lesnar because its a bad match up for kongo that he would prolly lose and couldnt really gain anything from that fight.

well they just might wait to have brock lesnar fight on the super bowl weekend card. i mean that would be big, they could have gsp vs bj 2, serra vs hughes and lesnar vs tba.

Maybe Coleman will resuface again. They could also have Lesnar fight Gonzaga.....that could be a good fight. Randy sure as hell is NOT going to fight fight Lesnar if he feels that Big Nog is not up to par!! It's Fedor only for Randy....he's just that good, a legend......

He's got a fight scheduled already. Although a good pick. I could also see the UFC feeding him Eddie Sanchez or Christian Wellisch, just to increase his level of hype. Besides he needs a couple of wins under his belt, a decent record (even if it is small) before they offer him that title shot otherwise they are going down the same road as EXC is with Kimbo Slice!

so your saying brock should get a title shot against randy, cus i mean randy still has the title. No he shouldnt. Randy shouldnt even fight him in a non title fight. I dont think dana should even let randy do his last fight.

I agree i looked at a lot of rankings from several sights and i can't see anyone else but Gonzaga that would be able to take this fight on such short notice. After beating Harring I think this moves Brock up in the Ranks and Gonzaga is a more well rounded fighter for him to test his skills against. I hope this happens but if not I would like to see what the UFC will do to make this an interesting fight !
