Out of the last 3 UFC events 12 out of 30 fights went to decision. It begs the question; should there be more rounds in MMA?
Understandably they might ot want to do this because events would probably run over their allotted time, but maybe we could trim the rounds to four minutes or so to offset the additional rounds.

It's fine as is.
Fights that go to a Decision are a result of good matchmaking, for the most part.

I would prefer the rounds to be like boxing. non title fights could be 5 3 minute rounds and title fights could be 9 3 minute rounds with 30 seconds in between. it would keep the fighters a little fresher during the later rounds and possibly allow more finishes to fights. It could also help determine a winner in fights where there is a close round or two

Do you want to see fewer fights per event?

It's fine as is.
Pros:
More likely to have finishes. More likely to have decisive decisions. Easier to identify FOTN. Forces fighters to really focus on cardio.
Cons:
Less events per PPV. Could you really stand to see Karo/Machida for 5 rounds without booing? I can, but really, would you be able to? IMO, wrestlers would dominate as they once did.

I guess that's why I'd like to see it happen. Because I'd enjoy watching Machida for five rounds, and I think he'd wear down fighters enough to finish them off.

I think they should go back to the regulation time and overtime like UFC 14 through 20.

I disagree on your reasoning for "pros"
1) I don't think there will be a higher likelihood of finishes. In fact, I feet that fewer rounds would encourage that. If there are say 5 rounds, these fighters will have the mind set that they might have to go that long and you might see a cautious 1-3 rounds, then a half-tired 4-5 rounds.
2) Decisive decisions IMO, will only be a result of a complete overhaul of the scoring system.
3) Identifying FOTN is a subjective thing that IMO really only matters to the fighters that get the bonus. I wouldn't call it a pro and I wouldn't consider it easier to do with 5 round fights
4) Forcing the fighters to have better cardio.... I'm skeptical on this issue because i) there are fighters that seem to have trouble going 3 rounds, especially the HW. ii) I think there is a little too much emphasis on conditioning in MMA and some fighters try to replace technique with muscle and cardio. I think there needs to be a balance and I hope that guys like Anderson Silva help to steer the mentality back to where technique and conditioning are on par with each other.
Well, those are my opinions...

I enjoy watching Machida too, as well as any good fight, but I don't think the longer great fights would justify having to sit through just as many longer snooze fests.

No. Sometimes I want it to go past that but there are more fights that I am glad ended after the third. It is set up good now. Even though Chuck and Wanderlei only fought three rounds, UFC is trying to get the rematch with three.

I don't understand the point so about 1/3 of the fight weren't finished and the other 2/3 some one got the hell beat out of them or almost got their arm/leg broke or got choked out......
Sounds like 3 rounds is enough for the major majority of fights

i think its fine as it is. if so see more time and more rounds i think the result will not be better fights. in fact i think you will see sloppier fights in the later rounds.

Well i know this can't happen, but I wish they could bend the rule for certain matches.Even though Wandy VS Chuck wasn't for a title, those two guys deserved 5 rounds.
